viewtopic.php?f=2&t=244871Saturday 31st May 2025:
Once again The Hierarchy said it would be announced before the end of May lol
Well it’s not going to be announced now till next week apparently complications, but My View this all should of been sorted weeks ago
Plymouth are also now Speaking to Des Buckingham.
Des Buckingham is our new manager.
I think this is one of the best possible appointments we could have made. Great news.
Now let's all support him.
If this ends up not being true then I will take the criticism.
But this comes from a very reliable source.

Tried posting on original thread what ypu said indicated he was coming... good news if that's case

I hope you are right - this would be a very good appointment. He is a very good motivator of players and has had success in this division. Fingers crossed.

Interesting if true - Got Oxford up from this division before .

Ned, subject to ‘
official’ club confirmation, this really seems to be the case and I think we agree this is the best appointment of the bunch!
If true, we all need to get behind Des Buckingham and help him drive this club forward again!

Happy with this.
Let’s hope the club to mess this one up, have a good chance here to build on.

I think you’ve said everyone is our new manager, you have to be right on one

Chris, this was my first choice and I actually put my view over some weeks ago (if you understand what I mean

)
Hoping it’s true.

This is amazing news.
He is everything we (as fans) have said we want in a leader.
Hopefully we have the patience as it will take some time to get us playing the way he wants us to.
He will give youth a chance, high press, good football.
Ticks so many boxes.
I would not be surprised if we do what Ipswich did and go back to back.
Fri May 30, 2025 6:13 am
I think this would be a very rational appointment. No doubt some on this board will be critical and say Tan is clueless etc. Buckingham would make a lot of sense as a choice. He's experienced, knows the league and has achieved promotion playing good football that would suit our young squad.
Fri May 30, 2025 6:14 am
This has excited me a lot.
This is the closest thing we can get to Bellamy.
Our youngsters are going to get a go and they are going to be amazing.
Colwill is going to have a great season.
Salech is going to get 25 this year.
Fri May 30, 2025 6:25 am
If confirmed this will be a poplar and sensible appointment. I feel excited by it. His success will still depend on how well he is backed.
I feel this is a long term appointment and we will need to be patient (not our strong point !)

Very happy mate.
He was a local Oxford lad so it meant a lot him taking Oxford up. So the fans were really gutted when he was sacked.
I’ll counter with some negatives.
He doesn’t sit back when drawing or leading. Always wants a win. Two games Oxford lost away start of the season were because they were pushing for a winner. Some may like that but it meant 0 points instead of 1 and staying unbeaten. He’s also quite stubborn in his desire for attacking wingers and possession football. Oxford lost Brannagan to injury and he was the fulcrum around which the possession stuff was built. No one was able to replace him but he tried every midfielder in the hope someone would.
He doesn’t need football. He’s very wealthy from his time in India. He will not be a yes man.

Excellent news my first choice
Fri May 30, 2025 6:50 am
I think this is probably the best appointment of the names we had going around , tried and tested at league one with Oxford lets hope he gets backed .
Fri May 30, 2025 6:58 am
I was initially unsure but to be fair that's because I knew little about him.
The bits that convince me:
"high pressing game"
"closest we will get to Bellamy"
"will go for more goals rather than rest on 1-0"
That sounds like the football I want to watch
I did see last night he was also favourite for the Plymouth job so hopefully he comes here
If he does let's support him and turn the stadium into Buckinghams Palace

I can wax lyrical about him a lot.
It says data driven manager on Wikipedia or something I saw online. I don’t see that at all. He makes changes often in games that impact the match based on feel. Sets up his team to impact from the kick off too. Play off final v Bolton, lost 5 nil to them weeks before. Bolton were drinking on the pitch and their fans thought just had to turn up. He played two wingers high up the pitch, stopped their full backs getting forward. He also picked Long at right back instead of Stevens. Think Jason Perry of Oxford. After game Longy was asked was he surprised he was picked. He said yeah a bit but gaffer said he wanted me on to stick one on their left winger early doors as he knew he wouldn’t impact the game then. It worked. Stevens was best mate of the left winger and wouldn’t have done that.
Little things.

I think I need to admit I have a crush on him.
Best thing he did for oxford was leading the club in a major push about men’s mental health matters after a young fan / ex academy player killed himself.
Did a lot for Oxfordshire Mind over here and sales of boys get sad too clobber went through the roof.
The way he led that and looked after that lad’s family. Gives me goosebumps still.

Is this official?
Fri May 30, 2025 7:51 am
No chance this is happening. It would be the most logical and sensible appointment since Warnock.
In all seriousness if this is true I'm very happy. Out of all the names mentioned he is the one that made the most sense and would excite me the most ahead of the new season.
If this one doesn't work out you can't blame the board for once as I think he's most fans first choice.

I did edit this, but it didnt work...
*Edit* - I re-read the OP, so not official yet but from a good source.
I'd be delighted with this. Much more so than the gent from Leicester. Recently proven at this level. Good move by the club!
I was expecting some unheard of Swiss 3rd league coach.

I hope this is true.
This will improve season ticket sales and our chances of promotion.

A sacked manager from Oxford town who lost more games than he won, how could you not be exited by tans appointment,
Here endeth any protests,
as we "now all" have to get behind the new manager, and protests of any sort will be frowned upon by half the supporters, and the cycle will start all over again.

Your choice would be monty? Just so we clarify who's good enough for us!
Mist managers get sacked because of results even the good ones

I was in the unrealistic Nathan Jones camp but this is the best appointment we could have made. Very happy.
Maccy- Did he have a team of coaches when he left Oxford ? Were they sacked with him

Craig Short stayed. Coaches were club appointments and stuck around pretty much. Rowett brought one of his own coaches on who he trusts.

I will roll with whoever but a lot seem to be wetting themselves at someone who has been sacked back in dec and no club have come in for him,
it might work out fine I hope it does but I will wait and see before I wet myself with excitement if he is the best of a choice of 3 fair enough .
But be honest he is a budget appointment tan was not going to pick a higher grade manager to make sure we win division 3 at the first attempt.
The bigger picture will be how much will tan spend on new recruits and cover all those that have left this should tell every fan how much the club ambitions are.
