Rubbish!!

No, I'm not talking about the Bluebirds performances last season! I'm talking about Cardiff Council refuse collection.

In many areas, they have asked us to recycle plastic and tin items in red bags; paper and cardboard in blue bags; bottles and glass etc in blue bins; food waste in brown bins; general waste in grey bins and garden waste in green bins.
Fair enough.

Recently, however, on a few occasions, I have witnessed the refuse collectors emptying the blue and red bags in lorries with no segregation and mix the contents all together.

If anyone connected to that department can give a reason as why this is happening, after people have made the effort to separate the recycling, please let us know.

(Sorry, this is not football related, but we are out of season)

Caerphilly Council are going to have teams going through our refuse bins to search for items that should have been recycled. I think they are going to be called "Refuse Action Teams" or or something similar. They have already been termed RAT's. I kid you not. If you are found to have put the wrong items in your bin you will eventually be fined. I don't know how they will be able to find out if someone walking past your bin put's something in that's the wrong item. Maybe they will install cameras. They can call it "B.A.R." (Bin Action Replay) and have someone to watch a playback and still get it wrong.

Sorry to get it right , they are to be called "Recycling Advisory Teams". Still to be termed RAT's though.

Have you seen the back of the truck? We have a single truck for red & blue bags and I thought they were throwing it in altogether, but the back was split down it's length and they were throwing them either side. If this makes sense.

In Grangetown there used to be a truck with segregation in the truck for red bags one side and blue bags the other. Now we have 2 trucks collect the red and blue bags.
