Whoever the new manager is....

Wed May 28, 2025 8:54 pm

This what I hope happens when the new manager is appointed.

I hope the majority support him from day one.

There will be the usual responses:

"He's crap", "This decision has just relegated us" etc.

But I hope that's the minority.

I also hope that people give him the time he needs, including the board.

Don't want him to be written off after the first couple of games. Needs to be given full support for the first 10-12 games and see where we are then.

Also needs to be supported to bring in the players and coaches he wants obviously.

We need this appointment to work. We can't control who it is but what we can control is supporting him from the very start.

It's does not matter who the manager is that's if you want to call them because it's just a blame tag for them making the decision above him while he's being paid to face the brunt of it like previous puppets who have no say with players, contacts, decisions. The club is rotten from the top down the chain. Until they all f**k off nothing will change.

As for us fans this goes on at every club Ned with what you said, that's modern fans thinking and football today sadly.

Agree Ian, you will always get fans moaning about whoever is appointed, its about opinions and frustrations.
Ned would you support Purse if he was appointed?

Yes.

I wouldn't agree with it, but I'd support him because we desperately need the appointment to work. For similar reasons, I supported Riza until I couldn't.

The "toldya's" will be out in force after five or six games (including me) if things are not going perfectly.

There is so much pent-up frustration among those still engaged with the city that goodwill will be in short supply, even if it ultimately leads to Rambo.

Credit to you Ned

It won’t happen.

Could appoint someone like Zidane and people would complain that he’s been out of management for a while.

Never known a set of supporters like it.

Completely agree.

Ian Evatt lost his first 5 games in charge of Bolton and got them automatic promotion in the same season.

Whoever it is, we need to give them a chance.

Bulut lost 6 on the bounce and there was universal carnage on here.

Good post. This is the problem we have with a lunatic running the club, i've no doubt that there were other names on that list who were approched and would love to manage Cardiff City but turned the chance down because they couldn't work under Tan. As for the 3 put to Tan, let's be honest he would never have heard of them but he'll be trying to get the cheapest option, minimum contract ext.

And there lies the problem.

Some won't give the new manager a chance because he's a Tan appointment.

I prefer to give managers a chance.

If the manager gets hounded out then all that will happen is someone with no experience will come in and we'll continue to fall.

I want Tan out as much as anybody but this constant negativity and talking ourselves down helps nobody.

Let's just support the new manager, whoever they go with.

I agree with this.

Some people on here have such hatred towards Tan that it doesn’t matter who he appoints, they have already been written off.

Managers who have experience within League One being called terrible etc when they have good, solid experience.

Maybe it’s Blue tinted glasses, maybe it’s people with overly high expectations (in some cases, bordering on silly expectations, maybe it’s hatred towards Tan.

Whatever it is, get behind the manager whoever they turn out to be.

Well said, Ned; and I fully agree!

We (the attending supporters) will have no say in the next appointment but we need to give him our support whilst he sorts out the current mess, develops his own squad/tactics and tries to take us forward

The common denominator (Tan) will still be there but we really need to support the club itself rather than its owner :ayatollah:

Re: Whoever the new manager is....

I'm always prepared to give anyone a fair crack of the whip, we know whoever it is is ultimately a Tan choice, but his football knowledge is debatable to say the least, if the three guys who he's going to chose from have been thoroughly vetted by people with more knowledge and common sense than himself believe that all three could do the job to a good and successful level then whichever one Tan chooses should be a safe bet to be at the very least capable and knowledgeable regarding league 1.
So working on that basis we at least know he hasn't gone for someone incapable like Riza, hopefully we'll soon have the answer and I for one will welcome the guy and give him the respect he should receive as our new manager.

Show me where in my post have i said that i wont give the new manager a chance, this is all about the way Tan will go about deciding who it will be. If you think he will put the fans choice or club first then you are pretty naive. As for the new manager it's all speculation until emperor Tan decides who gets the poison chalice, then i'll give my opinion.

I know it's long shot but I would hope common sense prevails and Tan picks the one he feels would be best for our club not his pocket or any other silly reasons. Now is not the time for him to piss around umming and arring, pick one and let's get this show on the road.
