Wales manager Craig Bellamy has named uncapped Cardiff City teenager Ronan Kpakio in his 27-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Belgium.
Wales will host Liechtenstein at Cardiff City Stadium on Friday, June 6, before travelling to Brussels to face Belgium at the King Baudouin Stadium on Monday, June 9. The squad sees the return of Ethan Ampadu and Harry Wilson, both back in contention after missing the March fixtures due to injury.
And full-back Kpakio, just 18 this week, earns his first senior call-up following impressive performances in recent training camps held in Cardiff and Spain.
The defender enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Cardiff, impressing in pre-season before getting more heavily involved with the first team.
However, he damaged a ligament in his leg during the FA Cup win over Sheffield United in January, with surgery almost putting him out for the rest of the season.
Kpakio did, however, return before the end of the campaign, starting the final match of the campaign against Norwich City at Carrow Road.
While he has shown promise and endeavour in attack, he has much to learn still and these weeks spent in the elite setup with Wales will no doubt help him improve.
Kpakio was one of a number of young players handpicked by Bellamy for the training camp, with Cian Ashford, Dylan Lawlor, Ronan Kpakio and Luey Giles all included from Cardiff.
