A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area has been arrested, Merseyside Police says.
It comes after a car ploughed into a crowd of people during Liverpool FC's Premier League victory parade.
- Merseyside Police say just after 18:00 they received reports a car had collided with "a number of pedestrians" on Water Street
- It is not yet known how many people are injured or if anyone has been killed
- Police say a man has been detained following the collision
- An air ambulance has landed in the area and there are a large number of police cordons in place
- The incident follows an afternoon of celebration as thousands of Liverpool fans watched the Premier League trophy parade in the city centre

27 taken to hospital via the ambulance service.
A further 20 treated at the scene but not taken to hospital
4 of the victims were young children
Currently it is reported that 1 adult and 1 child have suffered serious injury.
3 adults and 1 child were trapped under the car as it came to a stop.
A 53 year old white British male from the Liverpool area was arrested at the scene, and the police say it is not terror related and is treating it as an isolated incident.

I know someone that was up there, word on the street was that it was a guy that was frustrated being stuck in traffic seems extreme thing to do mind. Awful business hope everyone makes a full recovery

Having watched the incident, I’m astonished there wasn’t multiple fatalities.

Lets be thankful for that. It seems he was driving quite carefully through the crowd up to that initial incident, following which he careered straight off into the crowd. Did something happen there or was he waiting for a break in the crowd to get up a bit of speed. Clearly he shouldn't have been driving on that road at that time but was it intent, was he drunk, was he clumped ?They'll get to the bottom of it no doubt.

I heard off a friend pretty much the same he was taking care then Liverpool fans started attacking his car opening the doors. I understand why if true but probably scared the shit out of him.
Such a sad and avoidable event.
