Best goal you've ever seen live?

It was the last day of the Premier League season today so the broadcasters did their usual "Goal of the Season" competition.

It got me thinking, what's the best goal you've ever seen live in a stadium? Think there was a thread like this before, but not for a while.


For me, Mark Hudson's goal from his own half has to be up there. Jordon Mutch at Fulham was brilliant too.

Would also have Ramsey's at Leicester high on the list because of the moment.

You could also say about 20 of Whitts' goals too.

For me it was whitts against Barnsley for the control, technique and shot. And being sat in the canton right behind the goal I knew it was in the moment it left his foot. What a goal

Seen a few belters over the years but 2 stick in my mind

First was mark delany against Chester in the fa Cup when he ran the length of the pitch

And the second was Marco gabbiadini for Northampton when he smashed in a worldie at ninian Park from near the half way line

Also loved Rambo's long range effort away at Leicester a few years ago but for me the best goal I saw live was John Buchanan's 97 yard howitzer against the JB's at NP.

Kenny Miller for Scotland away to Cyprus in 2011. Although I didn’t actually see the goal, as I was at the bar, but I was at the game so I’m counting it. Haha

Mark Delaney for me, was totally unexpected and what a brilliant run.

As an honourable mention- can’t remember who it was against but Matt Brazier smashing a volley into the top corner from about 30 yards out, another belter.

Robson kanu wales, cyruff turn in the box sent 3 Belgians the wrong way,and we took the lead with that goal against the best in the world at that time ,

Earnie’s goal v Stoke at Ninian. Can’t remember the year, but it was an awesome stroke from outside the box.

Tony Villars v Palace, all these years later, I can still remember the euphoria of that goal and night.

Fan Zyie Strike for Cardiff Reserve fixture against Crystal Palace at Ninian Park. All of 35 yards top corner. I was there Jimmy Floyd haisebaink against Wolves. Nathan Blake against Man City. All of Phill Stant and Carl Dale goals.

When asked, I always remember Nathan Blake vs Man City in the cup.

When looking at Whitts I always go free kick against Leicester in the Play Offs. Only chosen over Whitts vs Barnsley because there was always a question about hand ball.

However, let's see how far back we can go. I was in the crowd when John Buchanan hit a 30 yarder thunderbolt* into the top corner to make it 3-3 vs Swansea back in 1980.

I was right behind the goal about six yards away from the spot it went in, so yes I think that has to be top of mine as well

I was in the boys enclosure that day and remember the keeper turning round to us in the crowd and just shrugging his shoulders to us in the crowd as if to say "well theres not a lot I could do about that"

Special mention for earnies debut goal against Hartlepool, was a hell of a journey up there but worth it to witness earnies first goal for us

The memory plays tricks but I seem to recall the clearance came at him at head height and he manged to head it up and as it dropped he volleyed it

Victor Camarasa (remember him) goal from outside of box v Leicester City was a cracker-Limbs everywhere.
