So Sunderland get Promoted with one of the Yongest Squads in the Championship, many through their Academy which we for years Refused to use.

I remember us both saying quite some time back that we should be moving to a younger squad and giving game time to our youngsters.

I actually don’t believe that youth is the way to go next season completely though. Sure, we need young up and comers with potential sell on value, but we need (in my opinion) a couple of experienced battering rams too

Don't forget the unknown manager either.

Difference is they have a lot of good players in their academy.

We're only just now seeing a few decent ones coming through.

We build up young players too much when they're just not good enough. That's why Rubin Colwill has been so much of a failure.

Obviously also need a manager who knows how to use them and we haven't had one of those for a long time.

We lost a few youngster's
in the last couple of seasons.
A keeper to Wolves, David Hughes nicked , a striker for Man U. If we are not careful we will lose Lawlor and
a couple of others
Sunderlandvwill be straight back Down

Massive well done to Sunderland. You can only assume they will at best only have modest pot of money to spend i can see this side setting some new records next season. Has to be one of the poorest sides to go up in the last 10 years or so. likes of Burnley Ipswich even Luton went up with very good Championship squads and not a chance in hell of staying up.
Can see it being a long old season bet Newcastle fans cant wait.

The difference between our academy players and Sunderland's academy players is that Sunderland's players were allowed to play at a higher level than ours were.

There are quite a few of our players who would have benefited from a couple of games last season; this is not only the manager's fault, but the fans themselves were dubious about giving the youth a chance.

How many times last season were the fans asked on this board, name your team, for say, Millwall, etc and they name the same players week in week out? completely ignoring the academy players, even now, except for Dylon Lawlor, hardly anyone is mentioning them as possible contenders for a squad place next season.
