The bookmakers' favourite to become the next Cardiff City manager, Ian Evatt, has revealed he has received job offers and is "ready to go again".

Ian Evatt:

“It’s the first time in 27 years that I’ve had a break from football, I went straight from playing to being a manager.

“I’ve been a manager for seven years, and at one club for five - that takes some doing in modern day football.

“I was ready for a rest, and I’ve really enjoyed the break, but I’m starting to get itchy feet again and thinking about what comes next.

“I’ve had some offers that I’ve turned down, and didn’t feel was quite right for me at that moment, but there’s things happening all of the time. I’ll wait and be patient, and try to pick the right option.

“When you’re in the game, it’s 24 hours a day and it’s hard to gain perspective on what you’ve achieved, and also to grow and improve - and spend time thinking about what went well and what didn’t go well.

“I’ve had a lot of success in seven years: I’ve had promotions, I’ve won trophies, I think I’ve got the highest win ratio of any Bolton manager post-war, so I’ve done a lot so far, but the last few months have been helpful for me and I’m ready to go again.”

I think it’s a fair comment to say having a break can help reflect.

It is a constant job and he’s still young, so the issues with no plan B from previous fans etc. can be worked on.

Would agree with that.

He should turn the job down if he has any sense. Imagine working for Tan.

Imagine being slagged off by our fans before a ball has even been kicked.

I wouldn’t want to be a manager or player of Cardiff City purely for that reason.

Definitely a challenge.

You have a very good point there and maybe that's the problem why we can only attract this type of manager, people like Bilic, Cooper, Oneal are never going to come to League 1. All this "we are a massive club" or "sleeping giant" is all pie in the sky. we never have been or will be. :bluebird:

I’ve seen him train in the gym at Chesterfield and he’s a f*cking machine believe me.
If he got the job and instills the same standards and attitude into our players in them getting fit we would piss the league.
No lazy sick note wannabes would survive rest assured.

Pity we never had him last season then, our squad was full of gutless losers.

Whoever the manager is - that is going to be a key factor to how long / much they can take .
