The Club needs someone to run and completely control the football operation ….without interference from Tan .
The job is not for any ex manager like DJ.
There are people who are good at that .
Being an ex manager is not a reason to be able to run a football operation . Yes sure ….if an ex manager has over time achieved and learned and experienced the required skills then fine .
But Dave Jones ? For f**k’s sake .
Anyway …..I can not believe that the Club are considering him .
He is promoting himself …..and his name only cropped up because one or more of our fans suggested his name……these fans are wrong and good meaning but illinformed.

I agree, another its all about me bloke, I believe he was also "Its just another game" manager when referring to the South Wales Derby. Got us to a Championship play off but achieved what, not a lot, played some good footy but didn't get us anywhere with the quality he had.
I too have heard enough of the Warnock, Jones, Malky etc, might as well throw Lennie Lawrence in as well. Has to be a knowledgeable current successful businessman who's knowledge is the ins and out of footy. Who that is, I have no idea.
The sticking issue will be VT allowing someone that freedom

Annis, I appreciate what you’re saying and I agree that the club needs a footballing director to oversee operations at the club of footballing matters.
I said on another thread that I like DJ and listed the reasons why I think we needed that role at the club of which I think he could do, but with hindsight and taken on your points I was merely listing what was needed and any one with the right experience could do it.
I said DJ because I believe he and Tan are respectful of each other, and therefore if Tan was going to have a change of mind on the role perhaps DJ would be key to that. Having someone (DJ) doing the job badly would still be a massive improvement to what we currently have and could lead to Tan opening his eyes to the fact the role is definitely needed here, and replace him later.
As for experience in the role I believe that McPhail is doing an excellent job as a DOF, yet if we had appointed him the fan base would have said he’s to inexperienced in the role and to young to be one.
But here’s a question for you Annis, if the club were to go after a an experienced professional of being a DOF or such role, given their footballing knowledge would anyone come to this club when looking at how Tan has run it (into the ground) so far ?
Can you name anyone that would be interested with the right footballing knowledge coming here whilst Tan is here ?

So my question is, what does a Dof do for 10 hours a week, let alone 30 to 50 at our level?
An EFL football club is quite a small enterprise. We have a £25 million turnover, thats small. For example leekes £65 million, Rennishaw in Miskin over over £600 million, Go Compare £160 million, Admiral £4.8 billion !!!!!
Its has 300 full time employees, its not very big.
You have a commercial side thats run by a commercial manager/director
A finance side run by a financial controller/director
We have an academy that's self-sufficient in terms of administration.
On the football side
A recruitment dept run by the head of recruitment
A U18's & U21's run by respective managers
A sports science physio doctor group
Then the main guy the first team manager or head coach.
What Tan need to decide if does he want an old school general manager to oversee the footballing side and he has outstanding first team coaches (Warnock) who run the day to day stuff or a head coach who runs the day to day and matchday stuff then we need a more hands on administrator. Tan let's inexperianced general manager run the club and we get relegated. There is such a vacuum.
What we are missing is a full-time chairman or CEO. Most of us do not like the Riddler, but his interview on the BBC opened my mind that a DoF is a cop out to the massive clubs who do not have a full-time chairman/CEO who want to delegate accountability; we don't need that. The duffer's Euro final tonight both have highly paid CEO's and DoF's, the DoF's are the CEO's scapegoats.
Tans owns the club we can't do much about that, he sets the goal and tone. He needs to replace Choo immediately for a full time COO, at our level they should be overseeing everything. But thats the kicker he won't, so it will be eat, sleep, repeat in the clubs recent fortunes.
On the subject of DJ wasn't his best buy's during the Riddler era?

That was something we did well under Dave Jones, pick up players cheap or for nothing and sell them on for quite a good profit, not saying that's what we should be doing, but he had a knack for spotting a good player for not much money.
