WAY WAY PAST HIS SELL BY DATE AND FAILED FOR MANY YEARS:
Dave Jones:
Jones: “I'd love to be involved.”
"I would go back in a heartbeat," Jones said of Cardiff.”
Former Bluebirds manager Dave Jones has called for change at Cardiff City and has once again offered his services to help the club out in some capacity.
The Liverpudlian has been out of work in a managerial capacity since he managed Hartlepool in 2017 when they went out of the league under his management , however went on to work as a consultant at Bury in the 10th League.
In an interview with WalesOnline, Jones put his name forward to fill the role of a sporting director within the club, however Vincent Tan has been averse to the idea since he was burned by Iain Moody more than a decade ago.
However, speaking to The World Class Stamp podcast, Jones recalled a game he went to watch this season — a 1-1 draw with Coventry City on New Year's Day — and said what he saw led him to believe the club needs more football IQ at board level.

Wouldn't want him as manager, been away for too long.
But as a football advisor, DoF or Sporting Director - wouldn't be a bad option.

Dave Jones:
"I would go back in a heartbeat," Jones said of Cardiff. "What you can't do is what you've done the last two or three years and make the same mistakes next year.
"I do think they need someone with football experience in the club. I'm not talking about picking the team, I'm talking about running the club.
"When I was there at Christmas time, I didn't see a great deal of knowledge around the club.
"It was hard to go back and watch a club you've been manager at struggling, I didn't feel comfortable, if I'm being honest. I was welcomed back, so I don't mean it in that way, but I sat with [Omer Riza's] wife in the lounge and you could just see the fear, because it wasn't going well, and that was horrible.
"I said to my wife, 'You're like that sometimes' and she said, 'Yeah, it's not a nice feeling to have when people are having a go at you.'
"Would I go back? Of course I would. I'd love to go back. In any capacity, really, because I do have over a thousand games as a manager. I've got a lot of knowledge and I want to give it back.

But would Tan the ringmaster listen to him?

I believe if we had beaten Blackpool back in 2010, we would have stayed in the Premier League for a few seasons.
Oh how different it would have been then.
Not sure I could be happy with Ian Evatt as manager after he helped destroy that dream.

As sporting director I think this would be an excellent move by the club

Dof or sporting director not manager

He isn’t wrong that we need a football man in the club on the board.
I do worry about his relevance these days though.
It’s been a long time since he was involved in professional football so would he be best placed to advise on how things are at the moment? I’m not so sure.
