A lot of talk going on about Salech. Understandably, he's our most important player and we've waited a while to have a striker this good.
But this is why I think he'll stay:
When we signed him, there were no reports of any other British clubs being interested. I'd be more worried if there were others in January that wanted him, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
I think if he left, it would be to a Championship club. He clearly is suited to the UK leagues.
What's also in our favour is he's young and on a very long contract. I actually don't believe Tan would sell him cheap because of this.
So why would a Championship club risk spending upwards of £5m (at the very least) on a striker that has only done half a season in the Championship? It would be too big of a risk - even though I believe he's pure quality.
If he scored 20+ for us in League One next season then there may be more interest.
But I really don't think that many teams will take a gamble on him yet. They will want to see how he does in the UK game for a bit longer.
I say that if we keep him, that's half the job done in building our squad for next season - striker and goalkeeper are the two most difficult positions to recruit well.
I just hope I'm right for once.

I think he will be here next season, as he seemed genuinely upset about us going down, and always speaks positively how he likes it here. Some club could always come in with a stupid offer, but I don’t think it will happen if the club has any ambitions of getting back up. I can see him scoring a lot of goals in this division, to get us back up to the championship.

I am in agreement I also think he will stay.
I think the club realise they are up against a hostile group of supporters and selling their prize asset will cost them more in the long run if we do not make it back to the Championship.
I also thing Salech is a very grounded young man. He knows he is learning his trade and I am sure appreciates that he could end up as 3rd or 4th striker, at a top club, and not play. Scoring 20+ goals next season I think will do him more good.
As you say some of the bigger clubs who are aiming for promotion to the PL will be seeking to buy proven goal scorers who have made the level across several seasons. That is not to say that Salech is not that person but he has only scored 9 goals in a team who got relegated.
I really do hope this turns out to be right.

That was sort of my point though.
I don't think a club will offer the right price based on half a season.

With the money that gets spent these days, 5 or 6 million (which is, I believe, a figure which the club would sell for) I don’t see as a risk at all.
Although it’s only been a short stint in the championship it was for a team which have struggled all year in front of goal and play a very counter productive style of football.
That will show other teams the potential which he has.
Considering that Stansfield was bought for 15m in League One, I really don’t think clubs will be put off with a 5 or 6 million price tag.

I think Tan is stubborn, not stupid.
He'll see Zohore as a win for the "system," but there have been few since. He is not down to his last million, he will want multiples of the £3.5 million we paid for him. I can see us buiding a system around crosses, we have Simic and Etete as back up with Davies and Ashford as poachers. I can see Robinson leaving.

That gives me more belief he will stay, I have no idea why but I thought it was 500k we bought him for, so anything over 5m would be a healthy profit on the balance sheet.
