A forum for all things Cardiff City

In 2013, Cardiff City and Crystal Palace got promoted to the Premier League together.
Flash forward 12 years: Cardiff are in League One and Palace will be playing European football.
Galaxies between the two clubs, when they were once at the same level.

Mark Riley:
They had a 5 year plan and methodically implemented the plan.
We took annual 'punts' on managers, players & style of play, taken by people who know nothing about football.
Well done Palace.

Not sure they had a five year plan when they first went up.
We finished ahead of them in the championship winning the title. The amount we spent that year and the next should have created a legacy that lasted and established us as a premier league team.
Unfortunately the transfer committee at that time misspent the considerable funds that had been allocated and created a squad that was easily found out and had no other way of playing.
Still rankles me that we missed this opportunity.
This then led to Ole being given the job and more money wasted. Crikey we had about 30 first team players.

Totally agree Annis, we had numerous opportunities to solidify our club, and the Clown and his minions spurned it at every corner.
Have we ever had a 3 month plan, never mind a 5 year one? It makes me livid when I recall all the lost opportunities this Dictator & Board have missed. And now we are where we are. Who is surprised?
It's a disgrace, get new owners in pronto and sort this fiasco out before we end up falling out of the EFL......because believe me, that is now a possibility with these uncaring idiots.
I love our club, always have from the age of 14.........I hate this regime.

All posters bang on here including the OP.
I messaged something similar to my mates yesterday.
Palace have a chairman who is a fan, is local and cares about the club. Like you say, the polar opposite of the shambles that has become of CCFC. #Tan out

You could add Brighton wolves Aston villa notts forest and Brentford to that list all of whom we were playing and beating not so long ago

I am honestly pleased we went straight down and struggled for a bit. I fear if we sustained success over a period of time in the premier League the rebrand would have stayed longer as new fans wouldn't care.
The blue and heritage for me is far more important in league 1 than the premiership will ever be.
