I just read today:
NOT CARDIFF CITY
Not Swansea, Not Wrexham Not Newport County or Merthyr
BUT
LIVERPOOL

Your right. It’s extremely sad, however also sad I’m not surprised. It’s clear to see when we went up the league about attendances were more about watching the bigger teams rather than supporting our great club.

I suppose it depends how you define the word 'support'.

It does hurt as for me I believe you should support your local club

The most supported team in Plymouth is either Liverpool or Man Utd.
Sat May 17, 2025 11:24 am
Armchair fans most never seen them live most Cardiff fans seen Liverpool live then the fake Welsh fans that support Liverpool
Sat May 17, 2025 11:29 am
unfortunately this is the way most "fans" are,
they won't support their local team unless they are in the Premier league and even then they only want to watch their favourite English team play,
I remember the promotion season under warnock, we only sold out for the last game of season and that was only because the club promised those who attended would get Premier league tickets the next season,
we will only show significant growth in the fan base if we sustain prem status, which is sad
Sat May 17, 2025 11:55 am
It's just the power of Sky Sports. If we had a long stint in the Premier League, we could also attract more fans.
I see them as more glory hunters than fans. When the teams at the top of the prem are winning more than losing, it's easy to support a team. That's why I think it's so refreshing to see Manure and spurs where they are at the moment.

I hate armchair fans support YOUR local team end of BLUEBIRDS
Sat May 17, 2025 2:04 pm
It pains me to see the stadium so empty. I honestly think we’re bigger than we seemingly are. The club miss out on so many opportunities to get new fans in and improve the atmosphere

Mate of mine has a Liverpool tattoo and I’ve seen Liverpool more than him

I can believe it, when we were in the PL 1st time around a guy I was in school with (born in Barry, grew up in Barry, went to school in Cardiff, went to uni in Cardiff) posted on the day of Cardiff v Liverpool "come on Redmen, let's beat the Cardiff scum". Other people from school had liked it!! I get young kids support successful teams but always imagined they grew out of it, I saw a fully grown man appx 50yrs old in Tesco the other week with a Man Utd shirt and Casemiro on the back!!!
Sat May 17, 2025 2:24 pm
Hate Liverpool fc with a passion. Growing up in pentwyn that's all it was in the 80s.
Who ever is the best kids support and that's really shallow sad and plastic

I’ve nothing in common with people who have principles like this. Glory hunters in football and tells me all I need to about their characters.

Liverpool or Manchester United are supported in Wales by the drones that just want to fit in.
Not interested in either.
As for the Premier is great to see the likes of Notts Forest, Brighton, Bournemouth, Fulham and even Newcastle getting amongst the pack at the top.
Cardiff regardless of the league we are in could fill the seats Sam Hammam did it.
I'd be happy with League 1 and Championship if we had the buzz that he brought to us and the fear factor he instilled into the teams visiting again.
its not the Premier we need it's a big bit of what Sam did.
Tan has slaughtered our dreams and killed off all attendance.
Theirs no believe or passion he's just left players and fans disalusioned.
It's only One club for me and I don't care about internationals.
A Bluebird from over the bridge lived a long, long time in Wales.

Nothing new, they've always been supported in bigger numbers because of their success, even when I was in school.

Where did all the ManUre, Chelski and Newcastle Browns supporters go?
Oh no, I forgot; they're no longer winning!

Same here.
When I was in school it was Leeds, Liverpool and Man United

Their idea of supporting a team is different to ours (fans that attend regardless of results). We get more satisfaction from watching 'the City' even though we've been pretty shite over the last number of years. We don't sit in our armchairs we get our arses down the stadium and support 'our' team win or lose. That would be completely alien to them, they don't get it, they don't understand the commitment.
They're not supporters or even fans really they're supporters of Sky Sports and most have never even attended a game
Sat May 17, 2025 8:57 pm
I wonder how many more ‘fans’ they will get next season.
Man City lost today and end up without a trophy.
Most of those fans who do change allegiance will be under 15, but surely the parents should have an influence
If my kid said he was going to be a Liverpool fan then id have a few things to say
Sat May 17, 2025 10:54 pm
There are a hell of a lot of Liverpool supporters in North Wales. They even bloody talk like scousers in Rhyl!
Sun May 18, 2025 6:16 am
Sadly it's finished, the top 4 supporting virus is well and truly staying. I've said it before for your population size you should be getting 40k plus every game (if your stadium was bigger). Everytime I bring up supporting your local team to glory supports they tell me why I ain't supporting my local amateur team then.. I can't win.

Annis
I wonder how many football fans on the island of Majorca support Real Madrid or Barcelona or any of the Spanish big clubs.
The same goes to every country worldwide, there are armchair supporters all over the world.
The big clubs will attract fans from all over the world.
And yes I am a season ticket holder and have been since the seventies, but I also followed Aston Villa to which I been to a few games.

I’m afraid to say it’s always been like this, and not just for us, but many clubs. Growing up in the 80’s most kids in my school supported Liverpool or Man United, and to a lesser extend Everton as they were doing well back then. I didn’t know anything about Cardiff, or Wales as it wasn’t really advertised. If you watched tv or went in a shop it was the two big teams and England. I think the club needs to do more to attract fans, and make it exciting again even if we are not doing that well. There needs to be more of an effort within the community and schools . The only time I feel like we have done this is around the Sam Ham time, as it felt very tribal.
