Wrexham are willing to pay Cairney £50,000-a-week.
Wrexham have already held talks with Cairney

Best player in the Championship 5-6 years ago but hasn’t done much since
Don’t know if he was injured but hardly played last few years
Huge amount of cash to even consider paying in the championship

If this is true it would be a gamble as he has had injury problems over the last 2 or 3 seasons hardly played been mainly sub appearances and also what will the other players think of him coming in on that sort of wage if its true.

Crazy if true get experience in but not at any price! Now this is out bet lot of agents rubbing hands with delight ...

I genuinely think Wrexham are going for Promotion.
For the success of the show, and the brand, I don't think they will want mid table mediocrity

Class player in his day, especially when surrounded by class players.
So far they have recruited players who have the right attitude but importantly are a level above, so they'll need to get proper Premier League players. Cairney is a bit like the late great Whitts, classy but the lack of pace stopped him from being a genuine Premier League player.
It's going to be Dad's army up there. They'll start great, but struggle unless they go on a spending spree.
,
£2,5 million on a 34 year old classy passer when they are a smack it long to a big man team is a bit extreme.

More paper talk. They'll be linked to everyone & their dogs for ever increasingly ridiculous amounts of money.

Can't wait for the wheels to fall off there.

They have connected with the community, perhaps they will now connect with Wales as a whole. They need to bring in some Welsh players and do their bit for the national squad.

I hope they do the double over the jacks next season.
It’ll be interesting to see what they do this coming season.
Obviously FFP is different in the championship and they will have to spend to be competitive at the top if that’s what they are trying to do.
I’ve followed the journey since they bought them and I’m glad they’ve done well.
Over the coming years it will be good for Welsh football as they start their own academy etc.

I know i am in a minority but i don't give a rats arse about them, don't care about the Welsh connection like i don't care about Newport or Swansea being Welsh.
A beautifully scripted, world-class edited reality TV series makes them everyone's darlings.
I hope they crash and burn. I think it started with the Paul Mullin debate and giving him a cap for Wales for scoring goals in the conference when he is an L2 player and there is a lad in L2 Newport scoring at a higher level, but he wasn't on the glossy TV series. I was surprised so many on here wanted to give him a go!
I watched them a few times and they are a long ball team, without the speed for the championship, with a manager who has never set the second tier alight.

Love them or loathe them they have shown Wales in a better light & done more for Welsh tourism than the Welsh tourist board have in the last 50 years.
The difference between them & us are the owners, theirs don't know what they don't know so they employ people who do know whereas ours thinks there's nothing he doesn't know so just employs lackies.
Living where I do puts a whole different perspective on the Welsh aspect but that doesn't mean anything to most of you & it doesn't mean I wouldn't want us to smash them into the middle of nest week if we were to play them in the future.

I couldn't agree more about the world wide exposure, they have been brilliant and look amazing owners.
But when i see a middle-aged bloke in a new Wrexham shirt walking the streets of Cardiff, three "wrexham" threads currently on here and the daft give Paul Mullins a go for Wales threads last season I am shocked how some fans have been taken in by a very slick reality TV series.
Reynolds is a marketing genius and the journey has been amazing but i think they are in for a very big bump unless the Allyn Family go for it, and in the championship thats going to be at least £30 mill

I think Wrexham will be right up there next season. They will recruit some decent out of contract players on higher wages and sell them the dream of the whole Disney/Hollywood story. Any player (of which there will be plenty) who want to be part of it will be straight in there. They may even spend on players but out of contract experienced players from teams that finish higher than them (take note Cardiff City recruitment team) seem to be their choice and its worked at every level for them so far. I think Harry Darling will end up there, maybe even a couple of our players like Rino. They will also get top loan players in from the PL because again, what young players wouldn't want to be part of it.
They are run very well and I don't think their bubble will burst any time soon.

I’m not so sure in terms of the ‘big bump’
It was said last year that they would find it difficult in League One, again the season before in League Two.
I must admit, I did yesterday watch the first two episodes of the new season. (I enjoy football and I actually find it interesting seeing what’s going on behind the scenes).
One thing that was shown yesterday was how much they had to put in to ‘go for it’ in League One. 50 million pounds.
That obviously is across player wages, signings, the new stand, more staff, and their academy. The new CEO laid it bare how much it would cost to not get ‘stuck in league one’.
The two owners weren’t phased in the slightest and reiterated that they were ‘going for it’ and will do until they reach the prem.
Like it or not, players do want to play for them, they do want to be a part of the journey and they have a plan in place.
Do I like that they are above us in the league system? Absolutely Not.
Do I want us to smash them when and if we play them? Of course
I do feel there is a bit of bitterness or jealousy towards them with the ‘hope the wheels come off’ comments.
But ask yourselves the question: if it was us that was on that journey, would you be saying the same things?

Like it or not, Wrexham are heading for the Premier League and will stay there for a long time. They might not have billionaire money but this is a club everyone wants to play for.
Personally I have no bad feeling towards them. I'm just incredibly jealous they've got owners that care deeply about the club, the community and the town. Only something we could dream of at the moment.

They’ve utilised experience in their squads throughout their promotions but I do think the Championship is the league where older players get found out
Without strong, resilient pacey midfields you get overrun

Why would anyone be green of them or any other team for that matter? Or is every teams supporters in efl green of them with exception of Birmingham?

Not envious at all because I'm sure the two actors will get bored at some point. Probably when their progress stalls, which it inevitably will.
Neither am I envious of clubs that have become successful due to Middle East investors with oil money.
The clubs I'm envious of are those with good, local businessmen or women owning the club. May not have the sustained success of other clubs but they're doing it in a pure way.

Does it have to be local business men or women?
I agree with you by the way but we went up the leagues with massive investment from Sam and then over the line with investment from Tan.

Well look at FGR.
Local businessman owns them.
Has turned them into a ‘vegan sustainable’ football club and has taken them out of the league.
No thank you.

Spoke with someone involved with Wrexham. Absolutely not true, they have identified him as someone they would like to sign, no talks have taken place as of yet as he is still featuring for Fulham who are still playing. They're not willing to pay 50k a week, that's what he's reportedly to be earning at Fulham.
