A forum for all things Cardiff City

An important question here is that - I have never heard of any club employing an agency to hire a manager ……but then I could be wrong here .
I’ve asked about and it really is a new one to many in the football world .
Tan seems to be on another planet , but not on the football planet
Are we starting a new trend ?
Is it a wise thing to do ?
I hope I am wrong but frankly I do not like this approach one bit ….and think it is rather bizarre …but definitely unusual .

Well they apparently got an agency in when Bulut went.
What happened? They just appointed Riza. So there was no point and it was more wasted money.
Another problem with bringing in an agency is they'll just suggest their own clients.
Complete waste of time.
Someone said on another thread that the money for an agency could have been spent on Nathan Jones' compensation for Charlton - that's spot on.

Did they?
Ned, we ended up with Riza who was already here.
Remember lie lie lie that’s all they do

Slightly different but Newcastle used an agency to find a DoF a few years back, and Laurent Blanc actually hired an agency a few years back also to try and get himself a new job.
There isn’t any clubs off the top of my head that I know have done the same, however it must be something that has happened otherwise these agencies wouldn’t exist.
As for weather it works or not is a different thing:
The agency will create a shortlist based on criteria set by Tan - and we all know what that means.

That's why I said apparently Annis.
Don't believe they really did it then, just like I don't believe it now.
Abbandanato has put out it'll be down to three candidates before it gets to Tan. He's hit and miss but, if true, they should make sure he has three proper managers to choose from.
We can't have the cheap option in League One or we'll be stuck there for years.
Des Buckingham or Nathan Jones are the obvious options.

I agree Annis definitely don’t like this approach! Seems another money wasting exercise to me.

Got recollection of big clubs using agency or whatever call them years ago....... but not for efl clubs to do so thats a bit ott especially when everyone knows there are several candidates available... absolutely no need for outside resources to be involved...

Of course other clubs use these sorts of people, but as it's Cardiff City, they publish it as a positive rather than hide it, as our reputation for incompetence is worldwide.
I believe clubs tapping up other clubs' managers is illegal, but recruiters phoning you or your agent to see how life is, and you would be interested in moving to a championship club in the wrong league, isn't.
In the murky world of football finance, there are intermediaries everywhere. Tan normally complains about the costs........
I think this is a positive, as i doubt any self-respecting professional would have put forward Morison, Hudson, Riza or Rambo in any short list.

Tan knows that he needs a footballing person at the club, and the ideal role would be a proven DOF - However as Tan has said no to a DOF in the past he is too stubborn to now admit he does.
So he employs an agency to do a fundamental part of DOF’s role and publicises it as a positive. He plays us like we are fools but he has made that many mistakes recently running the club, and his others that he is the one that has become the fool.
