Apparently shortlisted Dave Challinor, who has never finished out side top 6

I've been saying there's no chance he'd come to us when Championship clubs are looking at him.

Some of our fans don't seem to be living in reality.

Listening to some on here we could attract a lower EPL manager or failing that a top 6 championship manager. Lol. Because we no ordinary club, what ever that means we couldn’t attract these managers before why they think they would come now I don’t know.

We’d be lucky if we could attract Phil Parkinson if things don’t work out next season for them.

We haven't turned into a smaller club overnight/due to relegation. You're pinging alot of manager ideas as being too optimistic etc.

Why shouldn't we challenge WBA for Challinor, for example?

(I don't think we will for the record, but surely we can be optimistic).

The longer we act like a L1 club, the longer we'll stay one. I don't care what anyone says, we're a Championship side in L1. Aim big (for a change).

Why would any manager choose to join us over West Brom? They’d probably pick West Brom over us even if we were in the same league. Let’s be realistic.

Agreed. Putting us in the same bracket as WBA is crazy.

People don't want to hear it, so they'll be unhappy whoever gets appointed.

I don't disagree that we'd likely lose out to someone like WBA.

My point is though, why compete with Lincoln, when you could compete with WBA. Birmingham signed a striker that will slide into most Championship teams. Aim big, including us fans.

f**k me, we're finishing less than 7th before we've kicked a ball with some of you pessimists.

Where is anyone saying like that??

The point is fans are being disgusted by the thought of someone like Karl Robinson, even though he has a good record in League One

Hearing names like Cooper, Challinor etc is bordering on crazy.

Reminds me of when people thought we'd be able to get Howe.

Completely agree.

People in January thought we could get Evan Ferguson.

Talk about deluded.

Why is Challinor bordering on crazy, if Stockport don’t go up through the play offs we will be playing in the same league as them next year, and you would have to say we would probably have a better chance of getting promoted than them, and will be one of the favourites to do it automatically,

I actually don’t think we will have a better chance at all of going up instead of them.

We will have a new manager which will likely be someone who doesn’t know the league, a squad which has just started to be rebuilt and hasn’t properly gelled at that time.

Stockport on the other hand will have a team that has been built by Challinor, he knows the players, the players know the league, and he is loved by their fans.

This season in L1 was a bit different to normal. None of the relegated clubs will be spending the money that Birmingham did, and revenue wise Wrexham are a lot better off than most in L1.

We need something to grasp on to, we've had virtually continuous shite for the last four seasons, hope reigns eternal.

It’s crazy to go for Challinor IF he’s linked to the West Brom job. There’s only one winner there. The other stumbling block we have is Tan and co. Rumour has it in the footballing world, the decent managers out there don’t want to touch us. That’s why we ended up with Riza.

Exactly. Look at the clubs he's been linked with, he's not staying in League One.

I don't think false hope is helpful to anyone.

I made the mistake in thinking it was in the past, but it's not. It just leads to disappointment.

Ned there are several managers available and becoming available that will fit our criteria /needs without looking at outlandish candidates that won't drop down to div 1.....its not about club its their ambitions ...only way get such managers is if get taken over by rich Arab or the like who can entice them with big bucks? No plenty of choice hopefully tan ect won't take until August to appoint someone.

Imagine going into the season worried about Stockport County.

God, what has happened to this club. The bar for our supporters has re-calibrated all expectations.

Not worried about Stockport though.

Saying that if a manager is linked with multiple Championship clubs, we have no chance.

Or do you genuinely believe someone should choose us ahead of WBA? Because I don't see a world in which that happens.

Wouldn't even expect someone to choose us ahead of WBA when we were still in the same league.

It’s West Brom we are worried about, not Stockport County. If no championship club comes in for Challinor then I’d be slightly more optimistic of luring him here.

You're missing my point. I'm not saying that a manager should pick Cardiff City over West Brom in current situations. What I am trying to say it, if a progressive manager who is linked with West Brom is available, then we shouldn't walk away with our tails between our legs.

Regardless of opinion, we pay alot (Riza being a recent poor example of this, though). Regardless of opinion, we are a massive club for L1. I'm of the opinion that we should be going for managers that are outperforming this league; regardless of who they are linked with.

I'd also offer Challenor and/or Nathan Jones an offer, regardless of play-offs. I couldn't care less if they just had promotion, we should be looking to get back up, then out-perform the likes of Chartlon/Stockport/etc.

Reality may be different as this is Cardiff City, but I am shocked at how low our bar is.
