Mark McGuinness

Very very strong talk that Luton are selling Mark McGuinness. They'll get about £5m-£6m for him.

When we sold him, we had a 30% sell on fee.

So that means Cardiff City (Tan) will get 30% of the fee. Don't expect we'll see any of it, it'll all go to Tan.

Ned,

My Luton friends tell me the same.

But sadly as we know, City won’t re-invest in players.

Salech must not be sold for any amount.

The sell on is 30% of any profit I think, so we wont get much if anything

I thought it was 30% of whatever they sold him for, but we'll see I guess.

Don't expect any of it to come to us though, Tan will pocket it - just like he will if he wins the Sala case.

Their defence was as bad as ours, you'd expect a £10Mill defender at Championship level to not end up in the bottom 3, wouldn't you.

His high level stats from FotMob:

3 Goals
3 Assists
41 Started
43 Matches
3,754 Minutes played
6.94 Rating
4 Yellow cards
0 Red cards

Annis, you are spot on. Salech must not be sold and as for the sell on fee that we may have...... forget about that !!! :banghead: :bluescarf:

If we get an unexpected £2m from the sale of McGuinness it would make sense to invest £1m (£20k per week) of that on a a decent bottom EPL/Top Championship manager.

Some of the remainder could be used to keep Salech here.

If this is unexpected money for the club WHY NOT to the above?

Why would an EPL manager come to us?

We are a League One team.

Perhaps we can buy McGuiness taking away the % they owe, we could be on a winner, make him the captain.

Money Talks at the end of the day. The sort of salary for bottom 3 EPL to Top 6 Championship tends to be around £20k per week.

According to capology we are paying El-Ghazi more than that and severa others in excess of £30k per week. I am just saying that rather than paying someone like ElGhazi £20k per week (£1m per year) I would rather spend it on a decent manager.

Always enjoy reading your threads, but I think you’re being a bit over optimistic here.

We are going to be a League One club.

It’s also important to remember that League One is different (massively) to the PL.

The way they play, the players they know, the tactics, everything.

If they're unemployed got to go

By not ordinary I presume you mean:

Been hanging on for dear life.

One of the worst ran clubs in the EFL.

A part time board

A crackpot old fool of an owner who likes to poke his head in

A squad that needs a massive overhaul

Still fighting a court case that makes us look really bad as a club

Other than that, we are exactly just that, a league one club.

Lol you are spot on roath with your summing up.
Why people think we can attract a big name now when we couldn’t when we were on the up I don’t know. Unless I’m missing something, which is also a possibility. lol.

It's all well & good saying that but what happens when he gets offered much better terms from a top 6 Championship club or even a lower placed Premier league club & he wants to go & try his luck?

Interested in serious answers to this conundrum.

Never rated him, always remembered him out of position, especially against Swansea - just targeted runners at his side, catching him out of position.

Slow too…

Re: Mark McGuinness

He is a good championship centre half, the Arsenal connection convinced some of our fans he could play, but he can't. If he could, he would go to the Premier League because he can defend, he just can't play the modern game that Premier centre halves are meant to play.

He is a year younger than Daland but battle hardened to the championship, i just hope Daland can kick on from his baptism of fire because i doubt there'll be any offers for him.

I like Daland , as to other fans of other clubs, like you say , he just needs to get on with the robust of the Championship, sorry League 1 :laughing6:

Spoke with a couple of Luton lads after the West Brom game ….they go to majority of games and said McGuinness has been really poor overall ….certainly not worth £10m …be interesting where he goes
