Bournemouth assistant manager just gone in as 2/1 favourite in the betting odds, come in totally out of the blue this one

Strange one.

Could be nothing in it but it's a bit of a random name.

No managerial experience but been Bournemouth's assistant for a couple of years.

I've said that if we're going for an inexperienced manager then we may as well give it to Ramsey.

The bookies haven’t had the info in terms of the last couple of appointments.

The club has actually done well to make sure there wasn’t any leaks of the appointments.

Every man and his dog will at some point be touted as an option - so I’ll wait and see where we end up.

But it is a strange one.

Yea I'm sure we will be linked to every man and his dog in the next few weeks, I just found it strange he just flew straight in as favourite out of nowhere

Talking about everyone being linked Richie wellens from Leyton orient is the latest name in the frame

I want two things specifically this summer:

1) I want a manager who is on £20k per week - £1m per year. I would rather spend on a good manager than an average player

2) We keep Salech

Our team next season needs to be built around these two posts.

No. And no again.

Wouldn’t be completely against this. Have a few mates who are Bournemouth supporters and have always said good things about Elphick. Sounds like a strong character so unlikely to get on with Tan.

Played under Eddie Howe and now works alongside Iraola so he should have learned from 2 of the top Premier League managers. Sure he would try and implement a good playing style and coached the Under 21’s at Bournemouth as well so has worked with younger players which would benefit the likes of Lawlor, Kpakio etc.

Think we need to adjust our expectations of the caliber of manager we are going to attract with our current owner and now being a League 1 club

I'm not expecting any big names. The reason I say no, is because we need to go with a tried and trusted lower league manager who know his way about, not some Premier League sidekick who doesnt know what League 1 is about.

Karl Robinson for example. 1 promotion and 4 play off spots in league 1. Knows the league inside out. Or Dave Challinor. Someone of that ilk, a no nonsense character that can lead from the front.

Im not saying go for one of these 2 - what I am saying is go for experience, a winning mentality, and a tough gut.

No I get what you’re saying and I think I agree. However, Elphick played 46 games in the season Bournemouth won promotion with from League 1 in to the Championship and then played when Bournemouth went up to the Premier League a couple of seasons later, so has good experience at getting promotions as a player.

Of course though, there’s no way of telling whether he would be a good manager so it’ll be a risk

Club may be looking at him as our version of Chris Davies at Birmingham.

Young manager with potential.

Problem is that we've had a lot of inexperienced managers so fans have lost that they'll work.

I would prefer Robinson of the two, based on he's done very well in League One several times.

Jason Tundall took over at Bournemouth when Eddie Howe left and ge failed miserably and now Wddue How's assistant again. No for me

Tommy Elphick is a strange one. I can't see him dropping 2 divisions and he really doesn't have the experience of lower divisions that we need.

Des Buckingham is 2nd favourite with the bookies and a much better fit.

The 4th favourite is Nathan Jones who I'd love to see here but I wouldn't be surprised if Charlton go up and he will stay with them.

Rob Edwards is 6th favourite and another that has the experience we so desperately need.

If Ramsey is not interested in the job I hope at least he points Tan in the right direction.

Tommy Elphick's name doing the rounds again today!

Not sure what he's about, as it's a name I've not heard of before. However, reports have as an important member of the Bournemouth management team, so he must have something about him

As ever, our lot will surely spring a surprise and install someone not on the rumour rounds

I really don’t know much about this guy, and what influence he has had on Bournemouth doing well in the premiership. I would really like us to go for the Stockport manager, if they don’t go up. He seems to have made a gradual improvement in his coaching career. If not him, Nathan Jones or Rob Edwards who have both got experience of getting promoted.
