DAVE CHALLINOR FOR NEW MANAGER

Fri May 02, 2025 8:55 am

Check out his managerial record. 8 promotions and even an FA trophy win. Even played at Wembley in a League cup final for Tranmere. Looks an ideal manager that knows how to get out of leagues.

I agree, mentioned him when Bulut went.

But his stock is a lot higher now. There are Championship clubs looking at him.

Might be difficult to tempt him to go to another League One club.

Stockport still have the play-offs to come too.

City maybe just the job for him going to championship is a pressure position 9 months and could be gone? At city he could build a team that could do what Ipswich Bournemouth did we have the ingredients just need the right person to bring it together.... he'll be lucky to get promotion at 1st attempt in championship whete patience is a virtue..

I wonder how much Location will play a role for him in deciding where he moves. Look at his playing and managerial record, they’re all within the same patch of the UK. League 1 Cardiff or a Championship club in the north? I obviously have no idea, just interested me when I checked his record

A few names out there:

Rob Page
Russel Martin-Unlikely
Chris Hughton
Rob Edwards
Chris Davies at Brum, no managerial experience prior to Brum but done wonders, yes big budget but you still have to win games and he built a squad from nothing

All with huge experience

Chris Davies is manager of a now Championship club on the up so struggle to see why he would fancy another season in League One.

Why did eustace go from playoff hopefuls to bottom of league club who are still threatened with going down? Some jobs are more appealing than others no matter if league is one lower?

Eustace went to Derby because it was a better location for him and he played for them for a long time.

No way would Davies come to us. Might as well give Klopp a call.

The problem with recruiting a progressive manager at Cardiff City is that big anchor and chain that our club seems to be continually dragging around that goes by the name of Vincent I know what's best for this club and make all the calls Tan, as long as we're dragging that anchor around progress is very unlikely to be achieved and I fear most switched on managers are aware of this obstacle and will do a reverse shift quite rapidly.

If there is ambition, assuming Stockport don’t go up, get this guy.

Keep Salech and get this guy and I think we’d start to feel a little better. Sell Salech and get a cheapo with no record…. But the latter sounds like Mr Tan.
