Tan’s legacy, potential double relegation.

Copy and pasted from TLG on Mike’s site.

A 2-0 defeat for Kortrijk this evening at Beerschot, who are already relegated and tailed off at the bottom of the league.

So, with just two games remaining, Kortrijk are second from bottom of the the four-team Relegation Round table, four points from safety and three points behind Cercle Brugge, who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot. To make matters worse for Kortrijk, Cercle Brugge play Sint-Truiden tomorrow evening, so the gap to safety will widen whatever happens in that game.

Cercle Brugge beat Saint-Truiden 3-1 last night which means, with two games left to play, Kortrijk are six points off safety and with a hugely inferior goal difference to Brugge.

Their only hope is to scrape into the relegation play-off, but they are four points behind Saint-Truiden with a significantly worse goal difference.

Kortrik’s final two games are away to Cercle Bruges and home to Saint-Truiden. A failure to win either will see them automatically relegated, although it’ll be out of their hands anyway if Saint-Truiden beat Beerschot next Sunday.

A Vincent Tan relegation double is very much on the cards. Have any other club owners ever overseen two relegations in the same season? No idea, but I doubt it.

These are my words now. If this doesn’t once again prove that Tan is completely out of his depth and too stubborn to be in football, I don’t know what will.

A stain on his reputation and a black (or red) mark on his character.

He needs to do the honest thing and sell both clubs to someone that cares. Since taking over Cardiff he’s fed his ego and used us as a plaything.
