“ Aaron Ramsey’s Future “

Wed Apr 23, 2025 11:47 am

Ramsey wants to play for Wales next year in the World Cup and qualifiers and needs Cardiff to let him Sign a New paying Contract.

Ramsey wants to concentrate on his playing career.

BUT a Big But only played 21 games in 98 League and Cup Games in the last 2 years for Cardiff, and mainly as a Sub starting 10 games and many of them not completing a full game.

With wages of approx £36,000 a week including Bonuses, in League 1, Cardiff certainly can not afford his wages.

He's not fit, regardless of what league we're in.

He may struggle to find a club unless he SIGNIFICANTLY drops his value.

We can't be paying anyone that much money in League One.

I'd like to keep him on as a player/coach - but he'd have to take a big wage cut.

Otherwise he will have to find another Championship club that are willing to pay him that - there won't be many due to his injury record.

Coach/player that way wages can be split between the two and reduces ffp burden.... Derby did it with Rooney despite him playing more than coaching..:o

I wouldn't be surprised if Ramsey stays on And plays for basically pennies, his new buisness is taking off he's obviously not short of a few bob and his goal is to stay fit for Wales

He obviously has a lot of affection for the club I'm confident he will stay on as a player on a massively reduced wage

He wont last 5 minutes in League 1 before injured, they are tough old games and the refereeing is something to behold. Some right old cloggers will kick lumps into him :bluebird:

Surely a pay as you play is the only option for the club to take. Either that or release. No sentiment in football; not at at £36k a week anyway!

It says in the OP that it includes bonuses, so I doubt he gets anywhere near the amount quoted because bonuses are usually for promotion, games played etc. It's not like he needs to be on that amount or anywhere near it & I'm sure there's a lot of BS in even that number with plenty willing to criticize everything he does or anything to do with him. Player/coach makes sense to me but I don't think he'll be playing much wherever or whatever he ends up doing.

I expect him and Ralls to be here next season, they are both not daft and must have an eye on the future.

Rambo is off the scale wealthy and I doubt there are many wealthier 31 year olds living in South Wales in Joe's case.

King, Wintle, Colwill *2, Chambers will handle the physicality of L1 but you need a deep squad, and if these two take L1 wages then away we go.

If there was a chance of him leaving in the summer then I’d like to think he wouldn’t be in the caretaker position?

I agree with the comments that we are can’t be paying him that in League 1

Not in a million years. We spent a year in the league above the likes of Leeds, didn't make us bigger than them.
