There is a reason that we are going down (and we are). Don't get me wrong we have had poor decisions against us that have not helped such as the Placheta yellow card today which looked a red, the Stoke handball etc
But for me this season was about developing younger players and using experienced players to do so.
Colwill in particular has been awful, how long will he be seen as a talent I don't know. He doesn't influence games and is going backwards if anything.
El Ghazi, what a waste of space he was. He has a lot of his attention taken by off field issues but I really expected more from him.
Perry....I hate saying this as I like Perry and he has been brilliant the past 2 seasons but this year he has been off and just doesn't look happy here.
Alves....again I feel harsh as he is young but he doesn't have the pace we were told he has and he has no end product. But then you could say the same for most of our forward players.
Since injury Tanner has been awful, his cross that went straight out in the 92nd minute today summed him up. Turnbull also dreadful since his injury. Willock poor when he gets his chance.
We can maybe get away with one or two poor performances but it has been terrible with too many letting us down when it counts. Maybe Rizas coaching has caused it, but it can't all fall at his feet, most of these players have played at a higher level than Championship but look utterly clueless.
I am ranting, just feel so let down by them. It has been an awful season and we have too many journeymen happy to collect a wage but not willing to put a shift in to get us out of this mess.

Robertson is the big one for me.
We know he has the quality because he's shown it but nowhere near enough.
I'm beyond being disappointed by Colwill - just accepted that he's an inconsistent player. Given up criticising him too because some won't accept it.

I always seem to be defending Colwill but here i go again.
He is not Messi, he is not Bale nor Rambo but he is a kid with ability.
I think his problem is since his breakthough (Mad Mick) he has had Morison, Husdon, Whitehead,Lamouchi, Bulut, Riza and now Rambo not forgeting Page (he still is 22)
We have been on losing seasons since Harris, the lad has come into a struggling team and seen as the next messiah by a lot of fans in some dire teams. He isn't good enough to pick the team up by himself but a season in L1 will tell me where he is.
I hope Chambers and Robinson find a new deal somewhere else, but Goutas, Meite and AlGarzi free up a lot of the salary we'll have to lose, then its the Rambo and Ralls question, surely we can't afford them in L1

I’ve been a massive advocate for Colwill but he needs to leave. His performances haven’t been good enough and I don’t know where he goes from here but he needs to leave.

If you listen to the football people the likes of Robertson and Turnbull are far better than they have shown this season, there has been glimpses from both of them, i thought Robertson was good today.
I think a lot of squad suffered more than we realised under Rizza, the youngsters were not inspired and the older heads seen right through him, that’s my opinion on the poor performance from the whole team this season - Rizza was the wrong appointment full stop.
As for individuals, Alves, Manservicke (loans) wont be here next season, any players contracts up this season I doubt will want new contracts, not sure who’s contracts are up but I believe its a few.
As for Colwel, I’m sorry I don’t get it, from what I have seen from him he’s never impressed me, occasionally has some skillful moments but they are few and far between, he’s been going backwards and today was just terrible, bottles out of tackles and cant head the ball. And let’s be honest he doesn’t even look like a footballer, he looks awkward and not in a Peter Crouch way, just in a way that he doesn’t belong….

I thought Robertson did ok today and he made a lovely run which Ashford ignored him with and tried to beat a man whereas Robertson would have been clean through. It is also decisions such as that which have cost us. Ashford is young and will learn, as for Rubin I agree his coaches have been poor but he is just so frustrating, almost like he is on the cusp of becoming good but then fades away again he is an enigma for sure.
I feel more annoyed that some of these players will have a relegation release clause. They are the ones putting us in this position!

An excellent post, making all the right points and I couldn’t agree more!

We are going down because we have no leaders in the team nobody has mentioned the back 4 which has been the problem goutas is our only proper defender who likes the ugly side of defending unlike Chambers who has done well in midfield we should not have sold big mark mcguinness

El Ghazi bottling out of that challenge away at Oxford when through on goal just summed up the waste of space and money he's been this season.
Will be stunned if he manages to get a contract anywhere else after his "performances" this season though he probably will.

Pompy fans will be laughing at AR for choosing Cardiff over them.
Maybe L1 wis the best league for his ability at moment so he could be a big player if still here next season.

I don't understand him some point. Against Pompey and Plymouth he was top quality and had a decent first half today. The turn in the penalty area was top class.
But then he just turns into a player who looks like he's never played at this level.
But they've got to take him off set pieces - he can't take them.
I'd start Turnbull over him, at least he can take corners.

i think we have chopped and changed so much over the last 4 seasons we have lost any identity. "Playing the right way" has killed us. There has always been a tradeoff between physicality and technical ability. So we have appeared to recruit "footballers" over athletes. Although any team pre Mad Mick would out-pass this lot as well as out run and out fight.
Our recruitment has been shocking. I am not looking at those who qualify for U23's so who have been impressed by
NG, Goutas, Daland, Turnbull, Hovarth, Alnwick, Chambers, Collins, Willock, ElGarzi
Father Time has caught up with Rambo and Ralls.
I think the senior players who have stood out were CO'D & Rinomhota, a lot of you like Robinson but he is in the first group for me.
It's so poor that it's almost a godsend. As we will be near Malky's first season in head count terms, the rebuild can happen quickly.

For me the problems lies deeper than the players but the club itself.
Colwill is the one that most call with quality but we have not seen it at all. For his sake he is better to leave and go somewhere that will bring it out of him.
Rino is my player of the season. Thing is he has been in a poor side and shone a bit. Anywhere else he would just be normal.
Salach is the only one that has shown potential and if he had been with us all season showing the same degree then he would be my player of the season. I don't see him being with us next season.
For the rest of them I fear we will be in another relegation fight next season.

The only thong wrong about this team is they have all had the confidence knocked out of them by a useless inept coaching team

A good topic, a good post.
Colwill I have defended to the hilt, I am a fan, but I have always been very protective of our homegrowns from Cameron Toshack to Rhys Weston, blue tinted spectacles if you like. I think Rubin has had his biggest opportunities this season, and he hasnt delivered. I believe he is the kind of player that needs to be in a winning team with good attacking football and like minded players around him for him to shine. Sadly we are a million miles from that. I would not sell him though, not yet. Though of course we may have to!!!!!!!!!!
Robertson, so easily brushed aside, not very streetwise or strong, there is talent there, and good glimpses shown, but nonetheless dissapointing.
El Ghazi
Willock
Tanner
Goutas
Ralls
Alnwick
Turnbull
Maansverk
Alves
NG
ALL Really dissapointing.
Recruitment of players has almost been as poor of recruitment of managers and coaches. I worry that not only managers are reluctant to come to CCFC but footballers too because of Tans culture, news spreads amongst football circles and agents. Thats why I protested yesterday, we need change!

The one thing this season has reminded me of is why Warnock was the gaffer in the Championship.
The championship is the quick-fix league. Can you build in this division? i am not so sure. Warnock recruited men, sometimes old men, he never had much faith in boys. We had a lot of boys and the men let us down.
I have always been a fan and defender of Joe Ralls. After Yeovil, he was sort of an in-between of Whitts' technique/class and Gunnars physicality/streetcraft. By the time Warnock finished with him he was more Gunnar and I guess the great warrior would flinch going into a 50/50 with the current version of Joe.
And thats my point, they all develop, get stronger, tougher and peak at various ages.
Bagan has developed and was sound at left back, why CO'D played there was insane, he was almost pushing Willock out the way yesterday, he is a left midfielder and one of our only championship senior pro's to turn up every game.
Colwill is the same frame as a second row, they don't fill that frame until 24/25.
Robertson and Ashford are 20 years old playing against Will Vaulks a proper senior pro!
Men against boys is as old as time, but boys turn into men
I am strangely confident.

Slightly controversial, but I don’t rate these 2…
O’Dowda and Chambers.
O’Dowda huffs and puffs about like Siopis, but he’s a shocking defender and of late, does bugger all with it when he does go forward. Often choosing to turn and play sideways or backwards, killing any attacking momentum. Lord knows why he’s captain.
Chambers is just anonymous very much like Rubin. You keep hoping he’s going to do something good, but in true Bulut style, loves his backwards passes. We had zero creativity when he was in midfield. Slowed everything down allowing the opposition to recover.
