AARON RAMSEY:

How was the first game for you?

“It was really enjoyable, I really enjoyed that. The level of performance from the boys was superb. They did everything we asked of them over the last two days. A lot of work has gone in, a bit of information for them. We controlled the game really well, played with real intensity and intent.

"Sometimes football can be cruel, it can sometimes take a worldie from 35 yards, their only shot on target. These things can happen. We can be really proud of what we’ve done over the last 24 hours. To produce that sort of performance in that time, we can take a lot from.”

Undone by inability to turn pressure into goals?

“We wanted to be on the front foot and create opportunities. It’s difficult against a team like that who like to go into a low block. We need to be patient and break them down. Opportunities don't open up like they do against teams who are more expansive.

"We controlled the game pretty well and nullified them to nothing really and we had a few chances ourselves. But in general, the performance we looked for and the commitment was evident to see.”

What was it like to be on the touchline with Chris Gunter and Joe Ralls?

“It was a really proud moment. To do it with Gunts and Joe was really special. This club means a lot to me and I felt like I could get a reaction. I certainly got that today. I'd like to thank all the fans today, they were brilliant. They gave us that bit extra. I want to thank them for that.”

This opportunity for you – do you see it as a shot to nothing?

“The position we are in is difficult. But the main thing for me, when the opportunity came up, was can I have a reaction? Could I bring a different energy, a lift? I could tell from the first session, you could sense immediately there was a different feeling around the place and a lot of energy. We have taken it into training and into the game today.

“To get that out of them in this short time is something we can be proud of. It's just the beginning, the first game, now we can build on that. Hopefully we get a win on Saturday and it gives us a chance in the final game.”

This job, could it become permanent?

“I am just taking these three games. I'm still recovering from a hamstring operation, I’m still in the middle of rehab and I'm focused on getting back to full fitness. This is a role where it’s going to be an intense 10 days now then I can relax and get back into my rehab. I'm just looking at the next two.”

Relegation battle - win next week and never say never?

“We have got to win the next game and hopefully we take it into the last game. Results have gone against us, but we can only control what we can control and take it into the last game. We’ve got to win on Saturday.

“We’ve seen it so many times. So much can happen in football. Never say never, that'll be the message for the boys now. Build on that performance and take it into Saturday.”

What was the last 48 hours like?

“It was a lot of work. Me and my staff did a lot of hours in the office to prepare, we wanted to make it feel like a fresh start for these last three games. We changed a lot of things.

"We wanted to create a different feel, a different vision, just to feel like ‘OK this is where it starts’, and they were brilliant.”

Seek advice from anyone?
"I did. I spoke to Bellers (Craig Bellamy) quite a bit. He’s helped me out quite a lot in that 24, 48 hours.

"The FAW have been brilliant, and the staff there. Very supportive and I’m thankful for that. That definitely helped me settle a bit, it's completely different being out there.

"Sleeping was a little bit harder. Nerves from not being able to be on the pitch and do something. All normal things that happen when you first take your managerial role, but I enjoyed it."

What did you speak with Bellamy about?

“We didn’t have a lot of time to work on tactical things, so I didn’t want to overload the players with too much information.

"We had a day to do that. We had to take in a bit from meetings, but it was more about trying to get your principles across and habits."

Injury-wise, were you OK to celebrate the goal?

“I was hopping a little bit but I enjoyed that. Those are the moments that are priceless, celebrating with your mates, with your team and with your fans.”

Try and mask it with positive words all you like, same old story and not good enough. We deserve to go down.

Ramsey should be calling the board out, if he cares about the Club like he says he does, call the lot of them out, it’s why we’re in this mess, he has a platform now, tell it like it is, Dalman and Choo should resign, it’s at boiling point now.

Fair comments deserved to win but football can kick you when you're down.

He'll never hit a shot like that again and to do it with their only shot is typical.

They came for a draw and got it on pure effort.

If we had sacked Riza after Luton, or not even given him the job after losing 5 on the bounce then we wouldn't be in this mess!!

Can't change the past now, we've got a young squad that if managed properly could come back even stronger.

Just need the right manager to add a bit of experience in the right areas. Most importantly a change of ambition from the club as we've been dieing a slow death for years.

And you really think that all these young players will be with us next season, anything that is not pinned down will be sold on so Tan can get some of his money back, 3/4 of that squad will be gone by next season.
