" Omer Riza sends message to Cardiff City fans "

Omer Riza on Instagram:

I would like to take this time to reflect on this season so far.

Firstly I want to thank Tan Sri and the board for the opportunity given to me to steer Cardiff City away from relegation.

Although not quite there yet, I firmly believe we will survive.

I would also like to thank the players, who I had a great relationship with, and staff for their continued drive and togetherness to achieve this.

This season I have had the pleasure of introducing our youngsters at the club on a regular basis which will hopefully give Cardiff City something to really talk about in the future.

The staff around the ground and stadium have all been supportive throughout and wish you all the very best.

To the fans, I would like to say I hope we enjoyed some moments. The Jacks at home, Watford's 18 game unbeaten run that we stopped, Plymouth 5-0 win and other memorable moments.

The support you gave me after the loss of my father Josh is one I will never forget and appreciate.

The City, the club, the fans, players and board - you can only do this if you do it together.

Thank you for everything. The ups and downs will make us stronger.

So much wrong with this that I don't know where to start.

First of all, he's in no position to talk about everyone sticking together. He called us "clueless" only a few days ago.

Maybe he was told to say this to try and stop the demonstration on Monday - well his words aren't going to change that.

He's not accepting any responsibility for the mess we are in, only talking about what he sees as highlights.

The players do not have a good relationship with him. They all wanted him gone long before he did eventually go.

I actually think this is quite an awful statement from Riza.

Good riddance.

Agree Worcester
to many wet wipes falling for his patter ,like i have said plenty of times he went to tans den did a deal and sadly was not upto getting us out of the bottom 5 all season,
any other club would have fired him off long before we did,
now we are clutching at straws to stay up bit late with 3 games left but let's give it our all as fans.

Yes Omer.. what about the 0 5 at Burnley, the 0 7 at Leeds the , 0 2 to Qpr at home and the 0 1 s to Stoke Luton 0 2 to Preston 1 4 at Hull so many more downs than ups.

These sort of statements I am sure are part of any pay off agreement but it's in total contradiction to his comments earlier in the week. His true character started to show then and I am sure 'Mr NIce Guy' isn't quite what he seems and in time it will come out how he lost the dressing room too. He should never work in management again, unless it's in non-league and sadly the damage he has done here is still likely to cost lots of people their jobs if we get relegated. You won't be welcomed back in Cardiff Omer.

Strange message putting a lot of praise on himself for putting us into the bottom 3 thanks for that Omer . You should have walked ages ago you’re not a manager. Caused us fans a lot of stress please stay away from football now so we don’t have to see your clueless looking face again.

Just your typical departure statement.

He was on a decline and it picked up speed, a lot of speed, at the end. he had to go after that and when he reflects back he will see that.

Re: " Omer Riza sends message to Cardiff City fans "

He's gone now and I wish him no ill will. The job was just too big for him-time to move on I think because our dire position was not just down to him-if it was then why the protest. I'm now looking forward for the first time in a long time.

Ffs he’s gone. We won.

Another manager we gave barely any time to and created a toxic environment where players can’t play to their full potential.

I’m not saying he was any good. The highs produced some decent performances and the lows were really bad but we don’t help ourselves at all. Firstly with the lack of support for him after about five minutes and then the response to this clearly heartfelt message.

We often ask why some teams manage to find decent managers who bring along youngsters etc. reason is that their fans give them time. Look at Luton who might be staying up at our expense. We would never have given their manager the time they did.

100% Correct

Riza after 37 games in charge we are 2nd from bottom and just 5 Wins in 30 games and some of the most dire football continued to be played and you never went out to win games.

You should never have been put in that position.

I do feel for you as I actually think being our manager the pressure has made you unwell and i do wish you a good future.

You will get a coaching job in time again.

I have no Viteriol towards him, he was lofted into a position he was not qualified for in terms of experience as a player and, more importantly, as a leader of a football club, because under this ownership model, it's everything.
He is the face of the ownership, so he takes all the anger and frustration of a fan base who expects to be at least mid-ranking in the championship.

Amazing deflection from the ownership as they know Rambo won't face the same reaction, whatever happens over the next three games.

Agree…have thought this for several weeks ...out of his depth and then losing his father plus the pressure of the job…

Hope he takes a break away and finds a coaching job somewhere in time .
Wish him well elsewhere

Well said forever blue. I imagine he’s feel like the world has been lifted off his shoulder, and maybe he can properly mourn the passing of his father.

Good luck for the future Riza. No ill will from most of us.

The players do not have a good relationship with him. They all wanted him gone long before he did eventually go.

I actually think this is quite an awful statement from Riza.

Good riddance.

Calm down mate. Relax he’s gone now. What would you expect him to say in his leaving statement realistically, and remember he’s contract so will be limited on what he can say to get his full compensation.

It wasn’t that long ago if I remember correctly you thought he could lead us to the premier league. Apologies if I got that wrong.

I did say that and I was wrong.

But I stand by my comments in this thread.

What I would expect is him to wait to release his statement via the LMA, which he hasn't.

Am I missing something ? I thought we got behind Riza at the start we gave him a chance , I was well happy with some of the displays at the start but then he messed up by changing the team for no reason and making strange subs.now there’s people saying us fans treated him awful that’s why no one wants to come here because of the fans. All the fans fault Riza failed because we didn’t get behind him wtf are people smoking :banghead:

Re: " Omer Riza sends message to Cardiff City fans "

Sun Apr 20, 2025 1:01 pm

Ultimately he’s going to say those sort of things, it’s not far away from the ‘norm’ of what most outgoing managers say.

I was fully behind Riza (along with a select few others) up until a certain point - we all realised and it’s a shame that the board didn’t realise earlier.

I feel for him in a way. He’s made some silly comments and was reluctant to take any responsibility, but that being said, no one in his position would have turned down the job when offered.

He bit off more than he could chew, lost his father in the middle of a relegation battle, and looks like he’s really taken a hit on his health.

Regardless of our feelings towards him as a football manager, he’s still human and going through a lot right now.

All the best Riza and hopefully you get yourself back on the mend.

I have an Oxford season ticket as I am in the RAF and live up here.

A few ‘comedians’ often refer to this, normally when they have no other comeback to me.

Seem pretty pathetic of a snipe plenty of others on here have 2nd and 3rd teams and proudly post about with support from others. And I imagine nearly everyone here has watched a club game that didn’t invoke city. I’m from Merthyr so always keep an eye for they results and go when ever I can. For years now people have said total football, Man City, Barcelona style is the most entertaining football but it’s not.

Warnock ball was always criticised, yet Liverpool have done it for years with great recognition.

We don’t have a team that can control the game, we do have a team that can play at a high tempo, but they seem incapable of knowing what to do when they stop running their asses off. Riza wanted us to pass it around, but 90% of the time it was pointless passing.

We need to play football in the final third of the pitch, it’s a simple tactic but that’s where we try to play, not along the back.

Riza done well to start off with and the results he mentioned are the the highlights but there were some bad results also.
The contract he had was given at the wrong time for me - things have not gone well from that point overall .
We move on - We have 3 games to save this season :bluebird:
