League One this season

Fri Apr 18, 2025 11:45 pm

Take a look at this year's League One, don't assume it would be easy for us to get back up if/when we go down.

Some good clubs there and very competitive.

The likes of Huddersfield, Blackpool, Bolton, Reading, Wigan, Charlton have all been PL clubs relatively recently like us - but are finding that league a real struggle.

Looked like Wrexham were coasting to promotion but dropped out of the top two today.

It's a very tough league to get out of - unless you spend like Birmingham did, which Tan won't.

Those that were on the journey to the championship know how difficult it is and the owners should know too, league one is solid to get out of . That’s why I don’t understand why Tan hasn’t tried to stop us going down he must be fkd in the head, to be willing to lose the amount of money that comes with relegation.

If we do end up in league one teams will up their game against us as it will be seen as a major scalp to beat us.

Will be a very tough league for us to get out of.

Is it really that good? The top half would be competitive but the rest? Really? Speculating about the budget and squad is really unknown. I would expect City to be at least top 6. It's all down to getting the right new manager and the free transfer of some older, wiser heads to go with the youngsters that remain. We have been totally let down this season by an abject manager. This is all mainly on Riza. There is enough talent in this squad to come straight back up. I think we are only going down by a couple of points or goal difference in the end too.

I think the ones who struggle take over paid journeyman with them, i don't think that will be the case for us.

We only have Willock, NG, Robinson, Chambers. Not sure what happens with city royalty in Ralls and Rambo but it can't be championship salaries.
We have posters (not the clueless types ;) ) who believe clubs will be queuing to get hold of Robinson, so we are only stuck with NG, Chambers, and Willock and i am unsure if Willock has settled here, so may want to get out at all costs.

If Rinomhoata fancies an L1 contract with promotion clauses, then i'd sign him. Then we have multiple graduates from the academy who i think are all at least L1 standard.

It won't be a bad core group.

Then its the kicker, the head coach and the coaching staff. IMO, we are a bit like the WRU. We need to get the director of football in first to hire the coaching staff. We won't, it will be the world-renowned selection committee that saw greatness in Trollope, Morison, Hudson and Riza. Then panicked and got Warnock and Lamouchi, who almost instantly improved the same sqaud.

Tan's pennywise pound stupid approach has led us to this crossroads. It may be the great reset, or the road to ruin.
