Injury Update:

“It looks like Rubin Colwill has hurt his hamstring. Alex Robertson didn’t come off because of an injury, it was to liven it up and we needed a bit more energy in there. He’s come back from injury recently and felt a bit of tightness and cramp, so we had to freshen it up."

Ramsey, Ralls and Alnwick out for the season .

Isaak Davies out injured

Club Connections

Oxford have plenty of ex-City players.

Mark Harris, Joe Bennett, Ciaron Brown and Will Vaulks are some former Bluebirds that play for them. Brown is injured at the moment though.

Rival Players

Przemyslaw Placheta was with Swansea last season.

The Opposition's Manager

Gary Rowett was appointed Oxford manager midway through the season.

He was most recently in charge of Birmingham for the last eight games last season, in his second spell as their manager.

He has also managed Derby, Stoke, Millwall and Burton.

Opposition Dangerous Players

Cameron Brannagan has had a good season.

Tyler Goodrham will likely cause us problems.

Head To Head

We have won three of our last five against Oxford.

But the one defeat in that time was the 3-2 loss on Boxing Day.

Points against the top 4 in the Championship
Throughout the 2024/25 campaign Leeds United, Burnley and Sheffield United have proved to be far and away the best three sides in the Championship, while Sunderland, although perhaps not quite so formidable, have been fourth-best by some margin.

By TLG / DAVE SUGARMAN :

The points the eight teams still involved in the relegation shake-up have thus far collected against the top four sides is as follows:

8 - Hull City
7 - Plymouth Argyle
6 - Portsmouth
4 - Oxford United
4 - Stoke City
2 - Derby County
1 - Luton Town
0 - Cardiff City

The Bluebirds' failure to pick up a single point against any of the top four looks certain to be a significant factor if the side gets relegated. Some Cardiff fans tend to automatically write off games against the likes of Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield United as if City never have any chance of getting points against them, but all of our relegation rivals have managed to do so.

There is one Oxford player that I really like and who I believe may have a good future …. Tyler Goodrahm .

He plays wide on the left . (He may be carrying a slight knock ).

Plachetta the Polish player (an ex Swan) played right wing vs Leeds yesterday - he is left footed and tends to cut in rather than run the line .

He can be a danger - but I hear he is inconsistent .

One good thing is that Oxford will be missing their influential captain Elliot Moore - a C1/2.

Oxford United travel to the Cardiff City Stadium on Easter Monday looking to complete the double over the Bluebirds.

United beat Cardiff City 3-2 at the Kassam Stadium on Boxing Day in Gary Rowett's first game in charge and have lost just one of their last six games in the Welsh capital.

The U's won 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday last time they were on the road and they will be backed by a huge following again. Siriki Dembélé misses out with a hamstring injury, joining Ciaron Brown on the sidelines, but Oxford will be hoping that Hidde ter Avest has recovered from his concussion and that Elliott Moore could be available for selection.

Talking about the game, Head Coach Gary Rowett said: "It's a big game for us and it's a big game for Cardiff, but one more result, I think, puts it all to bed and we're not getting a little bit nervous towards the end of the season, which will be absolutely fantastic."
Following Cardiff's 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Good Friday, the Bluebirds sacked manager Omer Riza and replaced him with Aaron Ramsey.

Speaking to Cardiff City TV, Ramsey said: "Oxford are a well-structured team, and have done well of late. We're expecting a tough game, but we'll be working on things this evening, and hopefully we can cause them a few problems. The energy and intensity that we want to play at will ask them some questions.

"I'm looking for a really energetic performance, on the front foot, and hopefully we can implement the way that I see the game into the match on Monday."

As well as Ramsey, Cardiff will be without Isaak Davies, Jak Alnwick, and Joe Ralls, while Perry Ng remains a doubt. Former United winger Callum O'Dowda - who has been playing as left back for the Bluebirds - has been wearing the captain's armband recently.

Cardiff have just one win in their last ten in all competitions and have lost their last three home games, leaving them in 23rd place in the Championship.

Not enough time for Ramsey&Co to do their magic and too many injuries to key players, this game for me has a 1-1 draw written all over it, we will not stay up thats for sure, all the changes are much much too late, should of happened months ago with an experienced manager.

Plenty of huff and puff, but goal chances still very sparce.
More invention needed in front of goal.
Looking at other scores, we must win to stay in the race!

The way I seen it.

Some good intention football but nothing to show for it.

2 half chances, some close chances but for the final ball into the box.

Oxford have offered nothing to note but if they take their only chance we will be in trouble as I can’t see us getting more than 1 goal
