A forum for all things Cardiff City

Half the teams in league 1 were relegated from the championship in the previous ten years.
That’s:
Birmingham City
Huddersfield Town
Rotherham United
Reading
Blackpool
Wigan Athletic
Barnsley
Peterborough United
Wycombe Wanderers
Charlton Athletic
Bolton Wanderers
Burton Albion
How do you see City faring? Personally, with our current ownership I worry we could sink without a trace.

The point i’m making, as I’m unsure it’s clear: bouncing back is no guarantee, like the championship, it’s a league you can easily get trapped in.

Birmingham have bounced straight back up but I agree with your point. I don’t think we’ll bounce straight back up, definitely not if Riza is anywhere near the club

I fear the same.
Birmingham have only done it due to the money that they spent. Which we know we won’t be doing.
Leeds were stuck there for years and years.

Whoever the manager is, I don't see us going up from League One next season.
We won't spend the money and the club have already said players will leave to cut costs.
You also have to look at the likes of Bolton, Pompey etc who went from the Championship to League Two - that's a distinct possibility for us.
But I'll be there next season whatever happens.

Agree , I’ll be surprised if we bounce straight back up. I’ll be there every season though

Birmingham kept their squad together and spent to improve. Wasn't it something like 15m they spent on Jay Stansfield?
We will sell anything that's not nailed down, I don't believe we will get back into the Championship until Tan has gone

Sadly I'm forced to agree.

The Cardiff City 'Downfall' has truly began. No quick fixes or comebacks for years. The fans will be disillusioned and attendances will fall dramatically. A difficult situation to be in. Even a new owner would take years to turn the club around. Tan has truly destroyed a once proud club.

Out of that list of teams it's only Birmingham who are a really big club. We have no idea how Tan will react to relegation but I would still expect our wage bill to be the highest in the league. Its who we have as a manager that will dictate what our response will be. If it's Riza it will be a disaster again. We need a manager who knows the league. Des Buckingham would be my choice. But saying we will sink without trace, if relegated, is a bit premature.

Birminghams squad was shite. Yes they've spent, but the majoirty on one striker.
If we go down, we'll be one of the faves to come up and I'd expect us to finish top 8ish. There's some turd down there.

This is the sad fact of the matter, and the reality of the situation at Cardiff City FC.
I fear that things are going to get a lot worse,,, before any resemblance of “Getting Better”, might even start?

That happens with relegation. It can have a really bad impact on a club.
I’m hopeful that IF we go down then we get a lot of momentum going with our talented youngsters and we do a Sunderland.
