Riza - is he really Mr Nice Guy?

Wed Apr 16, 2025 6:24 pm

When he was first appointed, Riza had the tag "Mr Nice Guy".

Not the first manager who has been thought like that. The same was said about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Now I have met Ole many times and, although he was a bad manager, he was genuinely a top person. Always had time for anyone and would talk for a long time with anyone.

But I'm having doubts that Riza is the same?

Called the fans clueless, does strange things often like walking straight down the tunnel after bad results and even Bulut said Riza stabbed him in the back.

Not so sure that he's as nice as was made out.

I thought he was a nice guy at first he fooled me , now he looks like a violent angry druggy ready to fight every last one of us. Put that fight on the pitch Riza not at us fans who have had to watch some real shit .

I think he’s just cracked to be honest.

He’s not had the best time outside of football with his dad and I think it’s gotten a bit too much for him unfortunately.

I know people will read comments like his today and take joy in his failure, but I just feel a bit sorry for the guy.

Those expecting him to walk, he never really played at a high level, hasn’t managed at a high level and has always been a background coach. Not to say he’s not done fine financially but there’s probably a not insubstantial of money on the line which he’d be missing out on by walking and likely won’t be earning again given how disastrously this is going.

Should never have been appointed.

Basically in short: he’s in a difficult and probably incredibly stressful situation, I don’t think it’s fair to make judgements on his character.

He's only got until end season can that be a huge amount of money?

Presumably contracted to June 30th, so 2 and a half months and potential bonus if he somehow does manage to keep us up?

Don’t know his financial situation but I know I’d be a bit thrown if I suddenly lost 2 1/2 months of pay.

I have never hated a manager more than Riza.

Morison and McCarthy were bellends, but Riza is levels above them both. See what he has to say for himself Monday afternoon in the car park. Probably get security to walk him in.

On thinking about it, I don't think he is a "nice guy".

Why?

I watched the recent Bulut interview on Turkish TV and he said in so many words that Riza had stabbed him in the back. I don't have the link but it was doing the rounds, look it up

This would explain a lot, as EB was a Dalman appointment and OR was a Tan decision. This would also explain why Riza is still in a job and Dalmans recommendation of Warnock was dismissed by Tan, despite it being the obvious choice.

So I definitely detect trouble at the top and have done for quite some time. Food for thought maybe, as the EB interview and his comments were a red flag and resonated with me.

Hmmm, if you believe the papers you'll believe anything.

Warnock was a success at what he was employed to do.

Exactly, I don’t care if any manager is a ‘lovely man’ or a ‘nice guy’.
