This is honestly unbelievable from Stockport all people talk about is wrexham but 5 years ago they were in the national league North and win over Peterborough can secure a play off stir to the championship. They need more attention. This is a much bigger achievement then wrexham.
Stockport were lower down in the leagues than Wrexham and never had the publicity / backing Wrexham had, No where near.
Go on Stockport

Annis, you are so spot on.
Stockport have done brilliant. Their manager, Dave Challinor, has done an unbelievable job and is not a household name.
Hope they win the play-offs because with the job he's done, they deserve a crack at the Championship.
Can't stand all the talk about Wrexham, and I have never liked Wrexham.
So I hope Wycombe somehow get second place and Stockport win the play-offs.
Stockport have always been a small club too.

it's a shame these real underdog stories get overlooked because of celebrities,I'm not saying that it's wrong what Wrexham are doing but let's face it some of the players they signed only signed because of who the owners are
like you say this is a much bigger achievement, but the media love celebrities it's all about the money, hopefully if they get promoted they will start getting more attention

Leyton Orient doing amazing to maybe get a play off too. My first ever away trip was to Orient so always had a soft spot

Yes Leyton Orient are certainly on their way up again. I wonder who took them down?

Spot on. Thats really slipped under the radar including mine. All the media are interested in are celebrities. I am no Wrexham
hater and was pleased when they got back to the League. But it is not some sort of romantic miracle. They are where they are because Hollywood created a story and pumped money into it to sell it. Turnover last year was £27 million in League 2!! Nearly all that money came from the revenues created by the story in the US. How ironic if they miss out on automatic promotion and Stockport beat them in the play offs!!

I think they might catch Wrexham.
5 wins on the trot.

Best of luck to them.
I wirked with a couple of them while out in France and Spain working all those years ago. They were good lads and we had great banter. I'm preparing for the shoes to be on the other feet.

What is very interesting is that the main clubs mentioned on this thread as all doing well;
Wrexham - love them or hate them
Stockport
Wycombe
Leyton Orient
All have a Director of Football in place……. Coincidence, I dont think so.
With regards Wrexham, I see it as very similar to when Abrahmovich took over Chelsea, everyone saying that with all his money he will just buy the premier league etc etc, yet the majority would have loved him to have taken over their own club at the time. The latest accounts prove that the club is being run well, the owners have actually had their (arguably small) investment of £15m paid back already, and its there popularity that has brought in sponsorship and awareness (Netflix) deals, of which again most supporters would love at their own club.
We had a billionaire take over our club, and his own ego has let us all including himself down, not knowing anything about football if he had employed a DOF for the long term I believe with his money we would have be in the Prem permanently now for a number of seasons, and then people would have said the same about us, just so happens it didn’t work out that way for us.

It's not about plucky little clubs though is it. However you look at it, it's about how far you think they can go (Wrexham) because they've got some financial clout. The Championship is a big leap in terms of running costs wages etc, then we'll see how they do.

That has been said every time they have gone up a level though.
No way did anyone think they were gonna be anything other than mid table at best in league one.

They've had continuity same manager mostly same players but adding quality in every division
along the way?.... Bournemouth Ipswich two promotions on same principle Wrexham done it a bit longer ... its not rocket science its patience mostly with manager .... but what it does show any club can do it big or small if setup is right lots money not always nessasary
