“ Neil Warnock Agreed “

Tue Apr 15, 2025 8:24 am

Neil Warnock, 75, agreed to a sensational Cardiff City return last only for Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan to veto a rescue act tabled by Board members Mehmet Dalman and Ken Choo.

Chairman Dalman, CEO Choo and a legion of senior Cardiff players would welcome the end of rookie manager Omer Riza's disastrous 36-League game tenure which has seen the Bluebirds fail to taste victory in 27 of those matches.

Ex- Non League Leyton Orient caretaker boss Riza, 45, fatal haul of just one win in 10 matches has stapled the Bluebirds into the Championship bottom three, with only 360 minutes of football remaining this season.

Warnock, since miraculously leading Cardiff to the Premier League in 2018, leaving the club in autumn 2019, has since performed rescue acts at Rotherham, stablising Middlesbrough and Aberdeen too.

The former Sheffield United boss believes he can save Cardiff's 23-year second tier status, and wants to lead the Bluebirds to sanctuary - starting at his old Bramall Lane haunt this Friday.

But stubbon Tan continues to shield Riza, the coach who continously shuffles his starting line up, upsetting and confusing the Bluebirds squad in the process.

Ex-Cheshunt coach Riza presides over a disastrous 25% win tally at Cardiff which has placed Wales' capital club in real danger of relegation to League One.

Owner Vincent Tan is adamant he will stand by Omer Riza.

Just a thought, is it Tan who’s continually changing the team and Riza is going along with it, hence Tan’s loyalty. Or is it a joint thing maybe?
I’ve no idea but just can’t see another reason why VT is so loyal to him when he’s clearly well out of his depth.

Re: “ Neil Warnock Agreed “

This is so frustrating to hear! Warnock is the best choice in the circumstances but at this point it would be worth changing manager to almost anybody other than Riza . What is tan thinking? It’s almost like he’d rather have us relegated than admit he made the wrong decision in appointing Riza. We can all see it, only one man who can’t and he is unfortunately the one who matters. I have given my ticket away for Sheffield united on Friday and thought I’d just watch it on tv. I’m gonna take the mrs and kids out for a bit of food instead as that will be so much more enjoyable than watching this rubbish week after week. What kill’s me is how avoidable it is. If we’d brought in a decent manager at any point after buluts sacking we would be absolutely fine by now. Tan can’t see it and I don’t want to see any more of this now. See you in league one hopefully with a decent manager in charge.

It’s just mind boggling , looks like tan has fallen out with dalman and so is being so stubborn now , maybe he wants to see us go down and couldn’t care about his money loss . I can’t think of any other reason why he is doing this

I can't workout what Tan is trying to achieve, the whole setup is baffling.

Why wouldn't you take any opportunity to stay in the Championship, when (I don't think if anymore) we go down, we'll go into free fall and his assets will be worthless.

So strange. He’s a businessman first and foremost and no businessman wants their asset to fail…do they?

If this is true, it might be the final nail in the coffin in deciding whether to renew season ticket for next year.

It’s not about conveniently protesting Tans ownership by not renewing once relegated. For me it’s about not continuing to invest my own hard earned cash into this completely incompetent board.

We’ve been taken for fools, and we’ve invested so much of our own money season after season. This club is in our blood, it’s the heartbeat of our communities, but it’s in the hands of incompetence that’s insistent on running us dry. To continue to invest now feels like a fools decision.

Mental if true..

I was a Riza supporter but the stats don't lie. Warnock could be the only manager that could keep us up, we need a manager to motivate and inspire these players.

Wondered the same? If no-one available 4 games ago rambo ralls ect could have taken over until end season its been done many times over ... and I'm positive would have won a couple of games with it.... wr must be only club in this position who refuses help of the one coach who can possibly get us out of this mess with only 4 games left ...even he might not do it riza certainly won't.

Re: “ Neil Warnock Agreed “

Tan won’t want to admit that his choice on the manager front was wrong, and that is exactly what he would be doing if he sacked Riza.

He would be holding his hands up and saying ‘I was wrong, I f*cked up’ - his stubbornness and his inability to admit any wrongs on his part is what has killed this club.

I don’t want Warnock back, but he couldn’t have done any worse than Riza.

M

No one wants him back permanently but he'll
see what is required to get best out of players and get results .. People didn't like his style football but it was in top 3 for attacking in all aspects that's something we are lacking.

Re: “ Neil Warnock Agreed “

Tue Apr 15, 2025 10:49 am

As much as I want Riza gone and appreciate Warnock for his past achievements with the club, I can't imagine he'd keep us up after his last disastrous stint at Aberdeen.

Then again we're guaranteed to go down under Riza so I would take literally anyone else at this point.

We need an injection of knowledge to get best out of the players... NW is get it into their box quickly coach! his stats show this when last here... that's some we've lacked since riza took over... yes he'll probably fail but what's best try to do something or simply let relegation happen under riza?

Well if it's true that Dalman, Choo and senior City players want Riza gone then surely that makes picking a team very difficult for Riza if he doesn't know which players are against him. Surely if he is in that position, his position becomes untenable and he should do the right thing for the club and go, even ask Tan to put him on gardening leave until the end of the season so he doesn't lose money

Gardening leave is a simple and useful way to allow NW to try save us... but! If we go down can see it would riza have saved us question ? It's something no.one will know. :o

Indeed; and how many would use it (being in League 2) as another excuse not to go?

I’m with Ned on not wanting Warnock here for non-football reasons but understand he might be the best option for 4 games :ayatollah:
