LAST ONE OUT, TURN THE LIGHTS OFF.

Sun Apr 13, 2025 7:13 am

Over the last 50 odd years Cardiff City have broke my heart on more than one occasion, but as you get older you start to learn that there are other important things in life and this situation at the club feels as bad as any of them.

Okay, we've played in lower leagues with worse players. Christ, I remember going to midweek away games at Bury and the old Shay stadium in Halifax but as for the club in general, this feels as bad as it's been because all of this could have been avoided.

We have an owner in Tan who has no feeling for the club who acts like an emperor, Dalman, the hedge funder, who could easily fit in at Westminster, and Choo the high end car salesman. What the three of them know about football could be written on the back of a postage stamp.

The opportunity for the club to kick on was when Bulut was sacked, plenty of top championship managers were available, we spoke to two ex managers for advice and even employed a top European football agency to find the best man for the job (remember that bullsh*t) and we end up with Omer Riza.

Since then, there have been many oppotunities to bring in a better version of what we have, after losing 7-0 to Leeds, Christmas, and even the last international break.

Now it's too late and it feels death by a thousand cuts.

Still, we'll have the best stadium in League One and I just wonder how long before we get to fill it again for a City game??

Finally, I almost forgot, HAPPY 125th ANNIVERSARY to all Cardiff City fans old and new, has it been a good one for you???

Excellent post cityone, and sums up exactly how I fell about our club, and the way it has been run.

You're absolutley right about the older you get, there's a lot more important thing to think about in life. Sadly, a whole generation of youngsters are going to be "lost" to support Cardiff City FC,,, and that's unforgivable.

For me myself, and if I'm truly honest, I wish I had protested more robustly when VT rebranded our club, instead of passively "accepting" it, at that time... That was just the start of the problems we now have.

Unfortunately our great club has died the heart and soul of the club is now been extinguished by Tan and his cronies whom has killed this once great club.I have been a season ticket holder for many years but I am not paying those gutless crew another penny of my money so so sad but even I have had enough.

Hindsight is a great thing to have, maybe we all could have done a bit more at some point for our beloved club. I find it all very sad to be honest.

Great post. I guess I am of a similar age as yourself and also attended foggy Friday night matches at places like Halifax and Tranmere. But those days are behind me.

I'm not filling Tan's pockets anymore unless he gives us a quality manager and team worth watching!

A lot of fans are feeling the same way as you, not buying season tickets might just be the way to go. either way we HAVE to get rid of the three frauds who are killing our club.

I daresay there are many like you.

But spending on players and a winning team tends to do that. We are no longer winning or spending on players so suddenly he’s the big baddy again.

We did spend on players tho ,there’s no manager to manage them and keep a regular starting eleven that’s the problem .

The spending during the Malky days compared to now is very different.

Agree on that he was well backed , but I’m sure we got a few high earners at the club compared to other teams around us .

Definitely. Oxford’s top earner is Phillips on 17.5k. Plymouth’s is similar.

Myself and my wife have supported the bluebirds for over 30 years both of us travelling by car to home and away matches, this season has been the worst in my memory of players not playing for the badge, after the Luton home defeat we both agreed that this season would be our last, the amount of money we have given to the club over the years I would dread to think about, very often we have put our grand children on the back burner just so we could go and watch our once loved Cardiff City, we have both decided now that enough is enough and put our lives in to prospective and enjoy what we got left of our lives, we have been looking at motorhomes so we can travel around Britain and Europe, To be honest this season have been really hard for us to take and don't enjoy ourselves no more, we intend to see this season out and our last away game will be at Norwich, hopefully after our adventures begins, of coarse we will follow the City results but we wont be there in real life but in our minds only,we would like to wish all the Cardiff City fans near and far our very best wishes for the future.

What a sad, sad story, this is what Tan and his two parasites are doing to our club/fans. One day they will be gone and we'll have owners who care about the club and will take us forward again, until then we have no choice other than put up with these fraudsters who are destroying Cardiff City. Good luck to you and your wife.

I believe i am one of the longest oldest season ticket holders concurrently.
I had my first season ticket in 1971 and then when season tickets were introduced in 1975 for the old bob bank i have had one every year since.
If Riza is still in charge next season , im done, i have unsubscribed my email from all club correspondance and stated its all down to Riza and Tan.
Yes we have had it bad before but the beligerance of Tan on Riza belies belief.
Tan is going to have one hell of a shock if he keeps Riza in charge for next season, its universal now that Riza should have gone months ago.
such a sad sad day

Yes i think you will be the longest season ticket holder and to read what your intentions are is also very sad. I first went down the city 70/71 season and also got my first season ticket in 1975 on the bob bank.

Hearing this is so sad ,and respect for supporting the club all this time. We have been in bad times before but I can’t remember a manager being kept on with such a bad record and no managerial experience just makes it worse that he’s still here. He’s manipulated Tan somehow he’s on side with Tan to sabotage us. Alot say season ticket boycott won’t hurt Tan but an even emptier stadium will make him look even more of a tw*t than he already does. I keep changing my mind on the season ticket , why do I want to give Tan and the board my money it makes no sense with what’s going on. Vincent Tan you are an embarrassment to the whole of Malaysia , they are too scared to tell you out of fear over there but that’s what they think of you. The dishonour you have caused you should be ashamed . Your mother must be ashamed of you along with Malaysia. You have your country’s proud name on our shirts and you want us relegated. Get out of our club .

You're right about the rebrand. That's when we all should have come together and put Tan in his place. I pulled my season ticket immediately, unfortunately only 150 of us did. I still can't get my head around that to be honest.

I respected all the fans who, like you, walked away because of the rebrand. I know a few myself who did, including my brother in law, who was a member of the London based 1927 club at the time,,,, never been since.

I have to remember, and try to remind myself, why didn't more fans protest at the start, or beginning of the re brand?

Read the book "OnToGlory", by Mark Denham, the official story of Cardiff City FC's 2012/13 Championship winning season,,, and you might find a few of the reasons why there???

When it became clear the projected injection of money for the team etc was based on being red people chose success.

Not everyone but so many did.

To use that and Tan as an excuse to not go is just trying to justify the fact they have decided not to go because we are getting relegated. Those that say it’s a chore to go now are probably right. But they wouldn’t find it a chore if we were up the top of the division instead of down the bottom.
