Riza unimpressed with the Hatters despite the visitors claiming all three points in Wales


Cardiff City boss Omer Riza called Luton ‘not a great team’ after the Hatters’ 2-1 win in Wales last night, also stating he doesn’t expect Town to ‘rob’ many more sides of the three points he felt they returned to Bedfordshire with.

Going into the fixture, the hosts had a five point advantage over Town, as the magnitude of the contest clearly got to the players in what was at time a truly woeful first half, Liam Walsh going closest with a volley that was saved by ex-Luton stopper Ethan Horvath. Things began to get more exciting after the interval though, Cardiff taking the lead when Calum Chambers volleyed Mark McGuinness’s headed clearance beyond Thomas Kaminski to break the deadlock.


Unbowed by going behind, Town finally showed some of the character that saw them get out of this division two years ago, restoring parity just seven minutes later in truly wonderful style through Jordan Clark’s magnificent attempt from outside the box. Then, with 10 minutes to go, the visitors won it as just 60 seconds after Chambers had hit the bar from range, Thelo Aasgaard rifled home from close range with his first goal for the club.

They didn’t rob us.

It’s a simple case of over 90 minutes, they were the better team.

We have to be winning matches like that.

Still a few games to go but what we are seeing are those underneath us starting to perform while we don't seem to be.

There needs to be change in our fortunes else we will be down well before the end of the season. This is going to be all down to the manager and players NOT the board. The board made this choice and will have to answer for the outcomes come the end of the season, perhaps they will answer to it before then.

Luton played like they wanted it and gave there all , weaker team than ours but are battling and they deserved the win. Be honest Riza you fkd the Sunderland game and then fkd the Luton game and you will most definitely fk the Blackburn game .

Riza has been tactically undone by Luton twice this campaign, both absolutely dreadful performances. If Luton are going down, then we’re on the sinking ship with them.

I was sent this today by a Luton fan as it was in their press.

They believe he’s a bad loser, I just said it’s not that he’s totally inexperienced and really does not know what he’s saying.

Luton were awful for the first 30 or 40 minutes but we were worse!
Why are we starting matches like this, at such a crucial stage of the season - there are no excuses, the players looked like they couldn't be arsed, a bit like a mid-table end of season kick about.

We were disjointed, lacked aggression, no penetration - unsurprised as poor Salech was left up top (as per usual) on his own fighting a futile battle.

You're talking bollox about Rubin being in a box with Robertson - it's utter drivel. You're making this complicated and it's anything but. Play the players in form, in their correct positions.

Cut the time wasting passing about at the back. FFS play a 442 system that suits the players you have. We must have two strikers up front from the start of every remaining match. Omer - you should know all this, but clearly you don't or you believe you are Pep Mk 2! You ain't!

Finally, stop being the players mate, you're there manager, so stop rotating the squad to placate everyone. Consistency comes with a settled line up and formation the players are comfortable with. 4-2-3-1 does not suit us!

Surely if we get beaten Saturday then the decision must be made to relieve him of his duties.
I just hope common sense prevails and not put Purse in charge till end of season.
Hopefully the board has got someone lined up with experience already but my gut instincts think they haven't.
TBH I love this club and I am really frightened to death in what will happen to this club if we are relegated, I can only see us getting worse every season and our local derby will not be against the Swans but will be against Newport County.
I just hope that Mr Tan has got something up his sleeve during the international break that will save us all from the upcoming doom and gloom, or do you think that this is Tans way of getting back at us because he had to reverse the stupid red shirts.
I just prey to god that something positive will be sorted and we actually stay up and build for next season using this season has a lesson learned.
