Riza: This is why I've been messaging fans on social media

Thu Mar 13, 2025 5:55 pm

Omer Riza:

"I'm quite open to talking with fans, as long as there's respect and obviously I don't divulge information that I don't need to.

"But I like to think I'll get on the level with people and talk honestly.

"If someone asks me a question about why I'm playing somebody in a position that I'm playing them in, I'll say 'you tell me why you think I'm playing a player in that position', and I'll get an answer out of them and tell them what I think.

"So I think it's good.

"The fans just want to be part of everything and they want to know what's going on. Hopefully the fans will see that I like to try to have time for them as well.

"We're all human at the end of the day. People ask a question, whether they're fans or not, or people that have been in the game 30 years, or a fan watching the game. If they've asked a question and if I've got time, I'll answer it. I'll give them the answer that I know and if they don't understand it I'll explain it to them.

"I think it's important.

"Sometimes fans can say their opinion whether it's a nice one or not. If it's not nice, I just say 'thank you for that and if you ask me a different way next time you might get an answer'.

"So I always want to have relationships with the fans. Whether it's here at the stadium or whether it's in little meetings at places, functions, I think it's important."

Smacks of naivety.
He’s a good bloke but not the answer.
I wonder what support & advice he’s ever received from the idiots above?

He’s lost the team and now the plot.

Do you finally admit he needs to go? All I’ve seen the last month is you sticking up for him and saying he’s done a good job, and can take us to the prem etc! Crazy statements!

Tuesday was terrible and massively costly. Nobody can come back from that in my view.

I also don't support him messaging fans, stinks of unprofessionalism.

Personally I do not see the problem with him messaging the fans. If he is making the initial contact or not it makes no difference. Sounds to me like people are looking at further digs at him because its not going right. Would this be the same reaction if things were going the other way like we are in a promotion slot? I don't think so.

Understand why he wants to engage with fans now and again but when you have 9 games left
you kinda need to focus on these games instead of talking to disgruntled fans who are frustrated
about the club.
Don't get me wrong he is right when he is saying he is only human.
We fans are not angry with Riza because everyone knows his qualities as a manager.
Fans are angry because of 3 clowns who poorly run our great club.
Sooner they go the better.
Riza just caught in the crossfire sadly between fans and board/owner.
