Omer Riza: There's no other option

Postby worcester_ccfc » Mon Mar 10, 2025 9:54 pm

OMER RIZA:

"It's another must-win game.

"We are at home, our form hasn't been too bad at home. They are in the position that they are in and we need to win.

"It's a massive game, they're in trouble, we're in trouble and we need to get three points, there's no other option.

"They've made a managerial change and have got their problems but I'm not too interested in Luton and the problems they've got. We've got to look at ourselves, we need to get our points and to do it ASAP.

"Fifty [points] is the target, we've just got to focus on trying to win games and pick up points."

Luton Town have won each of their last four league games against Cardiff City, three of which have come via a 1-0 score line.
Cardiff City have lost each of their last two home league games against Luton Town and will be looking to avoid losing three in succession to the Hatters for the first time.
our stats against luton not that great hope riza just goes for it to defensive will cost us like many of the games weve lost

Agree with you both - I said a few weeks ago before the Burnley and Sunderland games -
( which we would have been lucky to get anything from ) The Luton game was the one to start to put a set of results from .

Have confidence that the players can attack ,we are better than going 5 at the back trying to get a draw. Go for the win if we go ahead don’t put a 5 back just go for another goal or two. Entertain the fans , hopefully one day the crowds will come back.

I just got this horrible feeling about tonight, my gut says another QPR at home, just haven’t got any faith in Riza or our defence.
Loose this and I would put money on us going down.Fingers and toes and everything crossed that my gut feeling is wrong.

If we lose tonight I dont think Riza will resign but I honestly think Tan will panic and give him his P45 Wednesday morning, then its over to you Mr Purse.

That’s my biggest worry as Purse in my view would be worse than Riza.

I think his first real test was winning his battles against the best defensive partnership in the league against Burnley.

Annis,
Even a draw would not be good enough in my opinion, you are right its a must win game, Im buzzing for tonight and hope the supporters turn up in numbers but what pisses me off is I very much doubt we will see Mr Tan, Mr Choo or Dalman anywhere near the stadium urging the team on for what is such an important game for us tonight, just goes to show how really interested in Cardiff City the board really have.

It’s fairly straightforward tonight Luton are in disarray and there for the taking

We cannot afford a slow start it’s getting beyond a joke now how sloppy we are in the first 15 minutes..there no excuse we need to be on the front foot from the start

For the first time in years we’ve got a proper no9 so let’s play to his strengths and get the ball in the box quicker and let him cause havoc…Mcguiness is a good defender but we know he can be rattled we’ve all seen it!!

Also I hope it’s been drummed into them that there is absolutely no excuses whatsoever for failing to beat the first man at corners.. that’s just schoolboy stuff and professional footballers shouldn’t do it

Time for Riza to show he can flex his approach to games, and identify that this is our opportunity to move one step closer to safety.

We cannot sit back and let them come at us, if they get the first goal they will shut up shop completely and we will find it hard to get the goals needed for the win.

There is only one ‘IF’ here tonight:

I’ve stood by Riza and as of this moment I’m still standing by him, I believe he has done so far what he was required to do (make sure we stay up, but has also had a good transfer window and found us the striker we have cried out for)

BUT

If we do not come away with 3 points tonight, even I will be questioning his tenure. It is absolutely vital we get three points this evening.

It won't happen we all know it. If we score we camp on the edge of our box and mess up with a mistake for them to score and if we are winning with ten mins left we go deeper and deeper and concede. I expect the back line and goalkeeper will have the ball more than any other area tonight. The usual crap no doubt if we go one up top.

Well Omer, if you're reading this, you need to grab your bollox and finally show absolute trust in the attacking ability of the players -throw the shackles off and play 442 from the start with CR47 or Ashford with Salech up top.

Do not go on the defensive if we take the lead, the players need to turn the screw as WE ARE THE HOME TEAM!

You win football matches by attacking and continuing to attack for 90 minutes, not 70 minutes.
And for crying out loud, get balls peppered into the box at every opportunity.

If we draw or lose this, perhaps Riza should resign.

Why on earth would he resign when he's still got a few months left of his contract? That's just him giving up earnings and not going to happen.

Sacked, maybe if we lose tonight or even draw because that would be a bad result. But not resign.

I agree there is no way he should resign why should he throw away money this is on tan he took the cheap option and now he has to suffer the consequences

Yeah - fair enough, he won't resign but that wasn't the main point I was making there. It was about our desire, attitude, personnel and formation tonight.

Time for the senior players to step forward and drag the team to a home win.
We need a positive start get the crowd pumped up,its hard for fans to get up when the team plays negative from beginning only go for goals when 2 down.
Now is the time for Ramsey to step up pay back time for all the missed games.

Gotta go for the juggler tonight and play two up top, need to be up and at then like bees around a honey pot, we can win this if Riza lets the shackles off the players and let them play their own game.
COME ON BLUEBIRDS you can do this.
