In fairness Annis upto Coventry lampard had an awful record at his previous clubs.... what it does showGiven right players right coach and anything is possible ... seen it numerous times...warnock at city case in point that team was not top 6 material never mind a promotion team....I'm with you that city's team is top 10 team but for some reason riza won't let team perform to their strengths..... its not inexperienced as hes been around England setup and other teams and coaches with less experience have done better than him

TBF they have a decent squad and have recruited well over the last few seasons, the question is what happened with Robins. But they are finishing the season with a wet sail and god only knows what may happen now. Lampard had 200 games as a manager at this level or higher when appointed and it is showing. Maybe he has sussed who he is as a coach and now back on the way up?

I searched for odds at the start of the season and here is Igovernor's thread from August

How the 2024/25 Championship table is expected to finish

Leeds 6/1
Burnley 13/2
Luton 10/1
Middlesbrough 12/1
Norwich 12/1
West Brom 12/1
Sheffield Utd 14/1
Coventry 14/1
Sunderland 20/1
Portsmouth 20/1
Watford 20/1
Derby 20/1
Stoke 20/1
Hull 20/1
QPR 25/1
Sheffield Wednesday 25/1
Swansea 28/1
Bristol City 28/1
Millwall 28/1
Blackburn 28/1
Cardiff 40/1
Preston 40/1
Plymouth 66/1
Oxford 66/1

To be fair to Lampard he did decent at Derby and at Chelsea the first time he was there.

He has surprised me though.

He’s averaging two points per game at Coventry at the moment which is promotion standard across a whole season.

Something seems to have clicked, or maybe the players there are suited to his style of football.

I thought they had made a wrong decision letting Robins go, but it’s worked out for them

There were a lot of people who questioned Coventry going for Lampard at the time ...

There’s probably a lot on here who would’ve taken Mark Robins, me included.
