MY VIEW: VILLA TONIGHT PICKED A STRONG TEAM AND CARDIFF DEFE

MY VIEW: VILLA TONIGHT PICKED A STRONG TEAM AND CARDIFF DEFENDED & DEFENDED AND IN THE END VILLA PRESSURE WON THE MATCH:

Cardiff fans were loud and proud tonight as their team defended well for for 90 mins but their was only one team who looked liked winning Villa.

Man of the match Cardiff goalkeeper Horvath, seven excellent saves.

Riza set up to defend from the first minute.

Fair play Cardiff sat with 11 men defending first-half and went in 0-0.

Villa played strong first team.

Cardiff gave 110%

But never trued to win.

Now what matters the league

Cardiff made big money from this

Over all well done Cardiff goalie Horvath 7 excellent saves.

FIRST-HALF: ALL VILLA WITHOUT A DOUBT/ BUT WELL DONE CARDIFF’S DEFENCE:

Cardiff could not get it out of their half the first 25mins, it was All Villa.
Cardiff just defended.

It was all one sided:

34mins: What a miss! Bailey gets outside Giles and drills a cross to the back post. It's an open goal for Rashford to tap into - but he puts it over from a couple of yards out! Incredible.

Rubin Colwill and El Ghazi, great performances.

SECOND-HALF:

Salech on for Robinson starting 2nd half:

What a Save! Horvath flies through the air to deny another Rashford strike from 20 yards

It was one way traffic.

65th min: Giles off, Bagan on.

Ramsey off, Robertson on.

If you defend defend defend in the end GOAL! Aston Villa 1-0 Cardiff City (Asensio 68)
Goal. Asensio sweeps home.
Rashford is found with a ball over the top and he pulls one back to Asensio on the edge of the area and he clinically sweeps into the corner of the net.

GOAL! Aston Villa 2-0 Cardiff City (Asensio 80)
Another Asensio goal, this time squeezed into the bottom corner on the other side

81st min:
Ashford and Davies on.

Battling display but class told at end! And villa unbeaten in 15 games at home so no complaints at result.

Lawler and giles ,fish and Horvath where all brilliant. Selech is gonna cause defenders problems ,Ramsey shown he is class .it was inevitable when you park the bus but no shame proud of us and our fans

I didn't expect to win irrelevant of what teams got put out but your never going to win if you camp on the your box line for a whole game and hope to get a break Vs a prem side, there's always one outcome 98% of the time. Atleast it give some players a run out and we had One shot on target so a bonus in some fans eyes I guess. Id rather have been beat and actually had a go at them for some of the game rather than defend in our box and lose anyway but cups over and now the league fight continues.

In a way city were forced to play 5 at back as this was a very good team with class forward line ... was always going to be difficult even before ball was kicked but villa team was stronger than I expected ... so a good battling performance hopefully play with same determination in league..

Great to be in round 5 but things could have gone pear shaped tonight. Our defence needed sharpening up and Hovarth is still shy of game time.Tonight done them well
We exit with our head head up and a few coppers in the bank
Break us down if you can Burnley :laughing6:

Undoubtedly many positives, particularly in the disciplined defensive shape and performances from youngsters but I agree with the above.

I think we needed to have more of a go otherwise what the hell is the point? No attacking outlet whatsoever - too negative for me but we do have a Bulut disciple running this ship, so unsurprised.

Very unlikely to win, I get that, but surely you'd get Ashford and Davies on the pitch far earlier than we did?

If you have Villa supporters questioning why the hell we didn't have a go that their defence, that says it all for me. There was a quarter final place at stake here and Burnley is 4 days away.

I was also disappointed that we didn't have more of a go at them, especially when we came out for the 2nd half still at 0-0 but maybe we just couldn't get the ball forward as they wouldn't let us.

Calling Riza a Bulut disciple is a little strong though considering what we were up against & the improvements in Riza as made. I get that you really don't like the guy but he's what we have & we aren't getting anyone better this season which isn't his fault & constantly not supporting him & the team doesn't help anyone.

Unfortunately some people seem to think sticking up for Riza is sticking up for Tan, when it really isn't.
