Ned now we have put a bid in for him, we will see if there is any ambition whatsoever to really get him by putting in a bigger bid

A bid of £1 is not going to work is it? Riza said if can afford players whilst dont want uo pay over odds we are in pole position so make them the offer what he's worth before someone offers £2 for him and we lose out again!

I expect they'll wait to see how he performs tomorrow against Everton. A half decent game and a goal will quickly put him out of our range. I would do the same.

Not sure why he went public tbh. First bid being turned down is nothing strange; what happens next will be interesting.
Do we follow it up?
Do we look elsewhere?
Is it part of the 'We did what we could' plan and ended up with nothing.

Coz if it gets rejected then Cardiff or buying club makes it public to stir pot with player possibly

One game is not going to change anything because don't buy player on back of one game especially in January... we either want him if so pay what he's worth or dont bother to waste time procrastinating about fee.

Nevertheless that's what they are hoping for(Barry Fry has said as much) as he's only got 6 months on his contract so I'll be surprised if he doesn't go to someone. And remember, it's common knowledge Nathan Blake got sold on the back of his FA cup goal so it does happen.

More fool club if buy on basis of one game no matter if scores or not ...Blakes goal only helped make minds up it didn't sell him on its own that's for sure

Its deflection, how often do we end up with the WOL reported target, never.

We are probably interested but i bet our primary targets are bubbling away out of site. We need at least three forwards so it better be

I think Tan will go for it, his 800 calorie a day city plan is going pear-shaped, so he needs to fuel us or he loses far far more

Don’t know why. But I started humming the lion sleeps tonight reading his name. Sorry to drag the thread down with my childish sense of humour.

But we definitely know there was an offer made for this player, because Darren Ferguson has said so.

But is it our main one? We need a biggie and this kid is still potential rather than championship-ready

We aren’t going to bring in a big signing in the January window though.

We still have to remain in FFP and unfortunately it takes a decent amount of money for a ‘big signing’ in the championship these days.

This is where the club go wrong. Instead of aiming for an average league 1 striker - we should have more ambition and approach clubs like Brighton for Evan Ferguson or Villa for Kenan Davies - players of that ilk

The Evan Ferguson that Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham and Leicester are looking at?

Yes maybe we should have more ambition and ask United if we can loan Kobbie Mainoo at the same time

Bournouth, West Ham and Stuttgart are in for Evan Ferguson. I love a bit of ambition, but you are way off.

Might as well put in a £1m bid to Newcastle for Isak.

But will it be any different for him at any of those clubs as apposed to what it's like for him now?

Not really

Maybe get more minutes at Arsenal out of the clubs mentioned but there won't be much different at the others

Iwonyi at forest is another player, Beto at Everton
Basically get a short term loan on a striker of that ilk
Nketiah would have been perfect if he was still at Arsenal

I’m guessing you’re on a wind up, but just in case not:

So because he may not get game time in a top club in the prem, he should drop to a relegation battle in the championship?

Nketiah is another one that is far too good to be dropping to us.

Ridiculous suggestions.

This is why we are where we are at the end of the day.
And not on about Ferguson per say
Just players of that ilk

I know we are in this dreaded battle
But we as fans want some exciting signings
And players want to play - but they can crack on sitting on the bench if they like. Most of the pussies probably wouldn't want to join the battle I agree.
But I'm just stating the club needs to up the anti

Instead of signing Joe blogs from Ebbsfleet or whatever

There’s exciting signings and I agree that we should be looking for young players on loan from the prem.

But the players you mentioned are well out of the reach of any championship team and I’m sure you’re aware of that.

It's more the fact that you're listing totally unrealistic signings for any Championship club, let alone one in the bottom three.

Well Leeds would maybe have a chance but I get what you're saying.
It just sucks that we don't approach clubs for the calibre of players that we were not so long ago, Harry Wilson etc

There's upping the ante and being an unrealistic dreamer. Yes, we should seek out talent from PL clubs but not of the ilk that you have alluded to, i.e. players that have already made their mark in the top tier.

If we get lucky we may do a Bristol City and get a player that few had heard of like Tammy Abraham, who flourished during his time with them and went on to make a name for himself thereafter. The top London clubs in particular appear to have a surfeit of youngsters with great potential and these are the places we should start looking.

Not even Leeds would stand a chance of getting Fergusson.

You’re on cloud cuckoo land.
