Just thinking about our past strikers, it’s been a problem for a long time. Out of the list below, are there any that actually were worth it?
Etete
Harris
Wickham
Davies
Kaba
Hugill
Ikpeazu
Watters
Collins
Vassel
KM
Glatzel
Ward
Reid
Niasse
Healy
Madine
Bogle
Guongbe
Lambert
Zohore
Saadi
Jones
Le Fondre
Doyle
Macheda
Revell
Guerra
Maynard
Velikonja
I’ve only gone back 10 years but jeez, what a massive lack of firepower.

For 4 years we’ve know we needed one and everyone has known that including the Famous Transfer Committee

Judging by that list never, even though some of those were more our fault & the way they were played than being bad strikers. There's also a few on that list that scored before joining us & after leaving us.

Suppose KM, Glatzel and Reid are the big names on there but must admit I always thought Zohore was quality. He never rekindled the form he hit in that one half season where he was unplayable and scored lots of goals. I still thought, even when having an off day, he was a quality striker - good hold up play and generally linked well with the team.
He should have done a lot more with his career!

Agree with that. Look at Le Fondre, scored plenty before he joined us.
Glatzel would do well in this team. Was the wrong signing for a Warnock team.
But we all said after the window closed that not bringing in another striker would cost us - that's proved us all right.
That was the time to have this conversation, and again in January.

Never, under the current owner.

You have to pay the going rate but tan won't,
and a lot of fans on the forum have said we are not paying silly money as if it was there money i could' nt give a rats a.se if tan forked out 20 mill on a proper striker.

Monty we all know need central forward but two things "one " fewer clubs are using a genuine centre forward they are buying a forward someone who can defend as well as attack that suits the passing game hence goals scored are well down on last season...."2" come January we will be in a queue of 4 championship clubs needing a forward and that doesn't include those that could buy a foward to enhance promotion or relegation fight.... so suspect they'll be same conversation of why we haven't sighned a forward come February.

The annoying thing is the money you have to pay is not even what I'd call "silly".
Stoke signed Cannon on loan from Leicester for a small loan fee and obviously his wages, he's scored six in a struggling team so far.

We've been a graveyard for many strikers. The service has not been there or wrong system. Dave Jones era quality all over the pitch and what a partnership up top Chopra and Bothroyd.

How spoilt were we to have Chopra and Bothroyd upfront. How times change!

God that list is a depressing read!!
Sat Nov 23, 2024 2:30 pm
To be fair to Kaba he scored goals
Sat Nov 23, 2024 3:03 pm
Madine was a goal machine,I saw him score two hat-tricks,both in pre-season friendly matches, both away at Tavistock 2 years running,he ran their defence ragged.

Hugill and Uche did well for us when they were on loan. Kaba helped keep us up too in his spell.
Robbo is clearly a good player.
But overall its slim pickings.

Kieffer had a 20 goal season for us, and Zohore got 21 across his middle two seasons, so don't think we can really complain too much there. Other than that, Kenwyne Jones had 1 goal in 3 in 2014/15, but otherwise inconsistent.

Once tan has left the club.

I'd take them two over a choice of 5 of that list. What a horrible mixture of poor signings, poorly times signings and prospects. Ultimately, the bargain basement.

When we have REAL football men running the club including a top manager.
