The History of International Rugby Union Tells us that all countries go through a bad run while blooding new players for a few years

And this is a REALLY bad run. Not enough quality in the front row or 10, 12, 13

Welsh rugby is an embarrassment. The perfect example of why you don't bring old managers back, as some City fans seem to be obsessed with bringing the likes of Warnock and Dave Jones back. :banghead:

Out of interest, what is Gatland doing wrong?

This is a very weak squad

The big problem is what the WRU have done with salary caps, and needing to be playing in Wales unless a certain amount of caps achieved.

I watch grassroots rugby on a weekly basis and there’s a lot of talent out there. Problem is the regions can’t compete with what is being offered in England or abroad.

When a new batch of players come through you need to give them time, it’s happened with Australia, All blacks, South Africa in recent years also so it’s not just us.

To the OP who says ‘Embarrasing’ or the ones asking for Gatland to go - please enlighten me what you would do differently?

Quite surprised to see so many all of a sudden hardcore rugby fans on a forum which has consistently called it egg ball and taken the p out of the game.

Why put that pathetic last bit in, then?

A decent reply, then a snide end. The OP has put 'Off topic', you're clearly a rugby fan..

(I agree with your points, by the way...)

I’m just pointing out that people on here are quick to post about how shite the Welsh Rugby team have been lately, and somewhat even belittling the game in the past - but then they don’t actually understand why, and that actually annoys me.

My last paragraph may offend some people, and that’s not intended and it’s not aimed at anyone specifically, just pointing things out.

Its a weak squad, I agree. Your post was aimed at Gatland though. I cant see anyone else improving this current crop.

So who would you suggest that could get better out of the squad?

Spot on, they say that the new Super League will bridge the gap between the regions and non professional teams - but it’s the same teams with the same problems.

I'm no rugby expert, I simply used it as an example, not to bring back former managers, as it rarely works out. Although Steve Tandy (Scotland defence coach) looks a good option. A big mistake the WRU made was letting Shaun Edwards go.

The WRU are at the root of all the problems, but were the valleys ever going to coeless around Pontypridd? I don't think so. We are too tribal. Thinking they'd support Cardiff was insane though.

I don't think there is an answer. I do think is it wasn't for the public school types in the media and corporate sponsorship rugby would be a semi-pro game. Then perhaps Wales could excel again.

Today the tickets were not overly expensive albeit on a Sunday and there were 20K empty seats. Rugby in England & Wales is dying on its arse. The game is not a great spectacle with clubs going through left right and centre.

But its nornmally a good day out, if its on a non city home game Saturday

Great to see, may it continue to tumble further into the abyss internationally as it’s already done at club level where support is piss poor….. :occasion5:

I'm no rugby expert but I do watch Wales games and I want them to win as I am Welsh, but looking at the Fiji game and yesterday's game we seem to be dwarfed by these teams and no doubt South Africa next weekend. You can have all the skill in the world but in rugby size and muscle will usually overcome skill. So until we can find some Warburton 's Wyn-Jones' s Wales are not going to win.

That’s how I see it mate. Don’t break the gain line and allow the opposition to do it and you’re basically fecked.
