" Omer Riza wants clarity on manager situation "

Omer Riza says he has moved Cardiff City into a "better position" during his month as interim boss but believes everyone would benefit from clarity over the manager position.

The Bluebirds have won three out of their last four games under Riza and climbed out of the relegation zone following the comfortable 2-0 win over Portsmouth, now sitting in 19th place after being bottom just a couple of games ago.

Cardiff have produced a considerable upturn in performances since the interim boss was appointed following the sacking of Erol Bulut exactly a month ago, but Riza insists he is calm over the situation as a whole.

Like many City supporters, however, he believes that clarity over the manager situation would benefit everyone as the club's boss search enters its second month. The board are understood to be comfortable with Riza taking over on a temporary basis and that decision appears to have paid dividends, however everyone appreciates it is not a situation which can continue forever.

"I have chats with the owner all the time. I spoke to him this morning and he was very nice and polite," Riza said of his talks with Vincent Tan. "Clarity is always best because then you can really move forward with the plans the club's got in place or the plans I might have.

"Of course, it would be nice to have some clarity, but in the meantime what's important is that we are going well. We are getting the points and we have climbed off the bottom off the table.

"We're in a better position than we were there and that's important because from there you can always move forward."

The game was comfortable for Cardiff. Although Pompey came on strong in the second half, the games was managed well by the hosts as momentum appears to be tracking in the right direction.

The Bluebirds peppered the opposition goal with 26 shots to Portsmouth's eight, while they also enjoyed 57 percent possession, too. Riza, however, wanted the second half to be more comfortable.

"I thought the start was excellent," he said of the performance. "I thought we could have had a couple more goals as well. The second half we lost a bit of control in the game and I thought we needed that third goal. That's something to work on, trying to control the game to try and not allow the opposition to cause us the problems they did. They pressed quite hard and we got quite tired, as was to be expected after Saturday.

"We haven't conceded a goal, which is a positive, but we needed more control in the second half. The first 25, 30 minutes, the boys were excellent but they came off it a little bit. They tried things they didn't need to, we need to be better in those moments.

"I want them to take risks, that's part of our game, breaking lines, forward passes. Rubin (Colwill) made some great dummies that allowed balls to go past the defence. But sometimes when the game is changing, you need to have a touch, or take a couple of touches, especially when you're tired and losing energy and strength, you need to recognise those moments better."

Give him until the transfer window, but if this continues it's his, surely?

We must take the opportunity to change our structure. Let him be head coach but get a dof for transfers and contracts. Hardly anyone has a manager anymore

No rush in my opinion.

He's done really well since he came in and thoroughly deserves a chance until the next international break.

The next two games will tell us exactly how far we've improved as the results so far have been against poor teams.

I'm also not impressed with him removing two of our best players every match with 25 minutes plus to go.

Cost us against Bristol and killed our forward momentum tonight but he got away with it.

He's done well so far but I wouldn't be giving him a two year contract just yet.

Four more games until the international break, the last one until March.

Would make sense to review the situation then. If they want to keep him, then give him the job until the end of the season.

If not, then appoint someone during the break.

Good wins recently but they've all been against teams at the bottom of the table - Millwall, Plymouth and Pompey.

WBA will be a real test on Saturday.

As I said after the Bristol game - He will be in charge when we come back to the Plymouth game .

Agree with the post above - the next International break is the time to talk and see what the club wants .

Omer Riza and the players have done their job in the last 4 days - the next set of games will tell us more ...

I agree with above. Lets not rush into another appointment.

The games we've won have all been at home against teams we should be beating.

Great performances and atmosphere since he took over, minus the big mistake with subs against Bristol.

Lets see how he does against some tougher opposition and decide one way or another when the next international break starts.

C'mon lets be fair. Turnbull and Robertson are both off big injuries with 3 games in 8 days.

The boys are giving all for him, O'Dowda must have done a half marathon yesterday, ride the wave.
