Doesn’t sound like a very strong leadership move to me.

Perhaps he's got a prior engagement? Not unusual for players manager not to travel back with team especially if have relatives ect near place they're playing? Just a thought.

He’d just suffered another ‘Rooney Rout’ but this time from the Championship’s bottom (at that time) club, so he was probably highly embarrassed and smarting from the drubbing…

When you are as entitled as he is, it must be tough to take…

I like Rooney he's at least honest compared to some of the other managers..... but as plymouth is opposite direction to where is kids and Mrs live its logical he's gone home.. and it doesn't need a genius to know how bad his team was so leave it yo others to analyse the game.

Allan, appreciate your comments about Rooney’s honesty; but surely his place right after that drubbing was to be with and squarely behind his team…?

I think its custom and practice to be allowed to make your own way home after a game if you want. His family live in Cheshire, probably a 6 hour drive, so why go down to come back up.

But, this is the reason i didn't want Giggs, its a 50/60 hour job and some of these multi-millionaire ex-footballers probably don't have that obsession because there is little need, they haven't earned the right, they were gifted it.

Chris it is a strange one as got game on Wednesday at Milwall but suspect he's got two days off and as said ealier easier to go home straight from city? As llan sais probably doesn't have the 100% commitment that non ex players have afterall does need the money or stress...
