If we beat Pompey in the same way

Sun Oct 20, 2024 10:06 am

If we were to smash Pompey the same way we smashed Plymouth, would it make you more inclined to give Riza a chance?

Yesterday was the best performance by City in a long time.

As Wiggy has said, we were on the front foot, played some great football, and overall we looked exciting and dangerous.

When was the last time we could say that?

Robertson alongside Turnbull worked extremely well and I thought they both had incredible games.

To see 5 different names on the scoresheet too was great to see.

It was one game so I'm not going to get ahead of myself, but it is clear that Riza has got the best out of the players thus far.

Could getting rid of Riza upset the players?

I'd like to know others opinions - I'd still prefer a proven championship manager as it stands, but if we keep playing like we did yesterday, that could change

I said before the international break give him the next to games and see how he goes plymouth portsmouth and am still of the same opinion ,
we await for tuesday and perform the same ,
and i am sure most would let him keep his place and see where we go,
if we have another bad run of results well then we would have to change,
Consistency is the key to riza and our future.

as long as we play with same intent 1-0 will be sufficient ...
But draw written all over it but that will be ok as the last 4 games results show improvement behond what we expected so a draw an step on way

Every game is different. Every game needs their own tactics.

No one would have predicted that score. What’s most important is our approach and collective teamwork and cohesion.

The players are playing with togetherness and intent.

Yesterday was a fantastic result. But the intent has been there since milwall.

If we can maintain consistency then the world is our oyster.

I may be proved wrong but we are absolutely not one of the worst 3 teams in the league imho. We are capable of absolute quality. We need to be consistent and resilient

As mentioned, consistency is the key. Let's see how we perform over the next few months. :bluescarf: looking much more promising under Riza.

We are a different team under Riza. Most definitely in a good way.

In his post match summary yesterday he hinted again that Bulut just didn't seem to take anything that he said on board. He's loving this experience, you can tell, he's enjoying being in charge, what he says goes and good on him.

That midfield trio yesterday were superb. Never thought I'd see Colwill, Robertson and Turnball in the same team.

I wanna see these next 2 games. I think if we can beat Portsmouth and take the game to West Brom (maybe come away with a point). You'd have to consider him staying at the helm then.

It's a big ask making Riza (the coach) our manager but I'm warming to the idea.

If we beat Pompey 5-0 and win 5-0 at West Brom I'll swim to Malaysia and persuade Vinny to offer Riza a contract.

I would still say no but it would be difficult for the club not to give him the job.

Yesterday was brilliant but Plymouth were poor.

If we score 3+ again, Tan will see it as a good opportunity to appoint Riza.

At this moment, I’m not completely against it, but I’m not fully convinced either. Plymouth was a poor side playing with 10 men, and Portsmouth isn’t a strong team, plus we were at home. The real test will come after the games against West Brom, Luton, Norwich, and Blackburn. If we can take 6 or 7 points from those, then I’d definitely say yes.

Plymouth may have been poor because we were so good; even before the dismissal

Agree
pressed from the off and put the game to bed first half,
i have wanted us to play this way since warnock days high press and compete and get stuck in,
don' t stand off and watch the other team play,
and no fannying around across the back get it down the wings.

We have got some difficult games coming up. If we play like that against the likes of Norwich and Luton, forget the results, then the pressure could be on to keep him.

Hes not my choice at all, but Hes already exposed Erol Bulut for what a poor manager he was. And that makes me happy as I feared the Bulut was here until Christmas or the twelve game mark. I certainly hope we beat Pompey the same way, he said he wouldn't have changed a thing with his shutting up shop at Bristol, I hope he didn't mean that, if he learns from that then all good. Let's keep it rolling, contract wise and form wise! We can interview prospects along the way if need be, but what a great story if he takes us on a winning bounce, gets the job and moves us up the league playing front foot football like that with Buluts squad!
