hello
i ahve filled in a crb check in my work, and their was a question which said ' do i have any upsent criminal convictions'
i ticked no. but had a police caution over 8 years ago. I have searched google and have come up with conflicting answers. Should i have ticked yes and stated what i got cautioned for?
Thanks in advance,
Lou

If you are having an Enhanced CRB check, it will show up on there no matter what you ticked.
If it was a while ago and for something quite minor (which it probably was, if it was a caution), your employer probably wont mind what you ticked (They probably wont even notice unless they have kept a copy of the form before sending off, and even then they would have to check against it when it came back.)
If you are concerned though, just tell your employer that a caution may show up and that you may have ticked the wrong box.

tell them it was punching Ridsdale and you were CAUTIONED for not doing a good job of it.

I would if I were you, just in case.
My job is processing CRB's for a Fostering Agency, and there is no guidance given as to when a conviction is spent or unspent, and if you phone up the CRB you get a different answer from each person you speak to!
Like you say, explain to your boss you may have ticked the wrong box. If you are open about it, you can't be accused of hiding it.

All depends what the job is and what the caution was for mate, i check them for the council dept i work for, i know that most convictions are looked over if there is a 5 year gap, so just having a caution should be know problem at all (depending what the caution was for mind) If it was serious you would have had a conviction not caution) PM me if you wish.

i have to do one every few years. cautions come up on an enhanced check.
your best bet is to tell your employers about them upfront.

A caution is not classed as a conviction,i'm fairly sure that is the case. A free call to a solicitor or even a google search may clear it up for you.

There's also a 'weeding' process where if you haven't reoffended the caution is removed from the system after a period of time. Doent apply to certan offences tho.
