only 6.3% of Cardiffs population ....

actually watch their local team , based on the Latest Official Population Estimate for Cardiff .

The latest official estimate of Cardiff’s population is 336,200 persons (the 2009 Mid Year Estimate - MYE). This estimate was produced by the Registrar General’s office at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and represents11.2% of the total population estimate for Wales. The latest (July 2010) count of NHS patients with a Cardiff residential address is 363,900

With Cardiffs population approching 370,000, the increase in home support reflects the upward trent in Cardiff's population

Moreover the % is probably half of the figure quoted taking into account our Valley's support.

Whilst the club has made inroads into increasing its fan base , clearly there is much more work to do as we approch the next census. It's aim should be to attract regular crowds of 35,000 plus.

well , you would need to compare the average attendance as a % of the City/town's population.

This may be different if a City has 2 clubs.

Obviously other factors could be its proximity to other clubs, and away support, but the latter two points dont really apply to Cardiff which makes us unique.

Basically, the Mayasians intend to increase the capacity of the CCS to 35,000, so those at the club should start marketing as soon as possible to encourage the new supporter to attend on a more regular basis.
