I changed from vista to windows 7 about 3 weeks ago and its the best thing ive done. Its smoother and a lot faster and when running multiple apps it doesnt slow down. :ayatollah:

Basically Microsoft released Vista with a lot of problems. The biggest being that it didn't like older XP software. In their quest to mimic the old Unix XWindows (which was basically a free OS available back in 1995) they released it on to the market and then tried patching it, basically as they've always done since their first operating system - Windows 95. (Before any clever arse tries the old "they had 3.11 before that. 3.11 wasn't an OS, it was just a pretty front end for DOS)

Vista also came with a big bag of problems working in a business environment with their own server software - Small Business Server etc.

This is why Windows 7 was thrown out so quickly, because it was quicker and easier to replace Vista than to try and fix it.

If you are upgrading to Windows 7 though, I've heard quite a few horror stories when upgrading a pc running Vista. The current advice is to do a clean install of Windows 7 rather than install over Vista.

Windows seven is shite in my opinion due to the fact what you had free on Vista etc you have to pay extra for nearly everything on windows seven. A total con and rip off.

If you're going to UPGRADE, then there's no point. It's a complete nightmare and there are a few problems wherein about 4 hours in it'll randomly stop upgrading, and you have to restart it.

You're best bet is to do a clean install of Windows 7. A bit annoying at first, but much less problems.

Windows 7 is what Windows Vista SHOULD'VE been, but they ruined Vista (Plenty of bugs, problems, etc).

I'd quite like to see an example of that (cos AFAIK, what you said is incorrect).

In comparison to Vista it (Windows 7) is a breath of fresh air. Whilst the Vista system was ok in itself, it took far too much power to do anyhing and slowed up the system hugely.

I would strongly recommend changing to Windows 7 but suggest you read some internet comparisons first and you could try this site as a starter: http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/windows-compared-windows-7-vs-vista-vs-xp-615167

Hope it helps....
