Been debated and the general opinion was less than polite in saying 'no thanks' ;)

Definitely no !!!

These are the types of players we need to avoid now if we want a change of direction and build for the future

I agree with the above, I wouldnt look at Gayle at all

However, looking at the current forwards available as free agents, theres not a lot to choose from;

The only ones that stand out are Lys Mousset and Yaya Sanogo

All others are older or untested which we cant really afford to take a chance on at the moment!

Actually, if you search 2nd striker I would also look at Vuckic and Forestieri!

Don’t think he’ll even score goals at that level. His legs have gone now and his best attribute was always his pace.

Derby County confirm Dwight Gayle transfer after EFL green light -

Derby County have signed former Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle on a free transfer to help aid their push for promotion back to the Championship.

The forward has signed a deal until the end of the season and will link up with his new team-mates for training tomorrow. Gayle completed the formalities of his move to Derby last Friday when he underwent a medical at the club's Moor Farm training base as well as agreeing personal terms following talks with head coach Paul Warne.

The paperwork of the deal was completed in the hope he would be available for Saturday's win over Stevenage but the EFL did not ratify the deal in time.
