This is the other side of professional football when we slag off players and call them mercenaries, fundamentally they are contractors with a short shelf life.
Romaine and his agent if he still has one know that there isn't going to be an EFL contract in the summer, they probably poked around and realised that's it, it's over. His technical ability can not mask his lack of athleticism, he peaked as the water carrier in a well put together Brentford team.

I don't blame him for not moving without getting every penny he has budgeted, he has to protect himself and his family. I blame the whole Morison era for giving the keys to the family business to a total novice straight off the street.
That summer has been an unmitigated disaster that ultimately cost a lot more than getting a decent management team in.

Vinny continues to be penny-wise pound stupid. I hope they now realise that you need a decent proven manager, get him the type of players he wants, they always want more so you'll have to disappoint them and have the sulks, but they want to win as their shelf life is probably even shorter so they are in a hurry to get as high as they can to secure their familiy.

Just another pampered sponging footballer. Why do we seem to get so many of these types.

Just defys logic that you would prefer to sit on your ar$e (and he has a seriously big ar$e when u see him on the pitch) instead of play football. If he'd gone out on loan we would have had to top up his wage so he wouldn't have been bl00dy out of pocket. Just disgusts me.

When he retires in a few years he'll regret these decisions...oh wait though, he'll have a few mill in the bank won't he!!!

I doubt he could get a loan, He is 32, legs gone, continuity passer. He is neat and tidy, but thats it. After three seasons of failing to hit the height of Brentford under some decent managers, Stevie White trainers decides he is the man to rekindle the extinct flame.

No one else touched him, he shouldn't have been in the championship at that point, now, he couldn't get into the Sutton United team who sit in the L2 relegation, because he can barely cover the ground, father time is a bitch, but he catches up with all of us.

Unfortunately this was the risk when Sky Sports piled money into the sport.

What you have to take into account is when we get a player who can't get in the starting line up who have to ask what he is doing about it. If he turns up for training and puts everything into it then you can't show him the door. If no one wants him there is very little you can do.

With Sawyers you will see him sitting on the bench but when he has come on you have to ask what does he do. Does he do what the manager asks of him? As fans we don't see much but he has scored a couple of important goals which is not bad as a midfielder.

I'm currently sat in the house getting paid for doing f**k all. I don't feel guilty so can see why footballers don't we wouldn't ne earning that amount of money what he js tbh as a contract is a contract although I'd rather be football, elsewhere if i loved playing still. That's the trouble with today's footballers they don't want to play elsewhere and are om crazy coin but we all differ in thinking. :ayatollah:

Maybe nobody wants him because if there do then there's no reason to be at the club even if he had to go out on loan for a 50/50 split but I've no idea :bluescarf:

Stevie White Trainers...love that!

Yeah you might be right if he couldn't get a loan. Doubt there would have been many takers. We are the fools for giving him a long contract. Still makes u sick though knowing he's getting paid all that money just to jog about on the training pitch. I bet he's on about 20k a week.

I would have personally kept one of either Rino or Adams just to ensure we can cover any bad injury periods. Defo wouldn't have kept Sawyers though out of choice!

100% this.

We expect more from players than we offer ourselves.

I totally understand a the position of a player wanting to protect their financial income, I really do
Why would you not want to play competitive football though (if there was a loan move for him) ?
Surely even dropping down a level, is better then just training and knowing you would not be playing

Bought a house here? Family settled?

Could be any number of reasons.

How can you hold your head up in front of the players around you when the manager has said he wants you to leave twice and they know it.

Some wise comments in this thread. It shouldn't be the player getting the head, but the idiots giving out the contracts!

Wonder why Tan doesn’t loan him out to his Belgium club as he has done with others?

He can’t make him do it.

They have this thing called a contract. We agreed to that and were quite happy to sign him when we did.

It’s pretty solid.

The same people slating Sawyers here are probably the same who slated Ledley for going to Celtic when he did.
