Some transfers at ‘advanced stage’, when will signings be announced?

If it depends on me, I would announce it yesterday. I can only give names and say we have to go forward with the clubs, players, agents. Club agrees with the player, then the club waits, the other club might want to sell or loan, then the player gets another offer. There are many details.

I think we could make at least two transfers in the first 10 days of January. It doesn’t happen. Now we have to work much much harder to finalise until February 1, the transfers we need for the team to push to stay close to the play-off positions. We are only three points away - it’s still nothing.

I said before five or six (transfers) would be great. We need it. Two players have left. Ugbo and Panzo left. We have two players less so we have to cover those positions. It looks like we need five, maybe six.

There is no "hmmm" about it Kyle.
In the vast majority of cases involving transfers, especially in a January transfer window, the people dragging their feet are the selling/lending club and the target player and his agent. No matter how hard the buying/borrowing club work on getting deals done early (or at all) , they can`t control it.

Have you watched the manager's last two press conferences?

I know the club have told you what they've told you but, let's be honest, it wouldn't be the first time they've lied to the trust/fans.

Yes I watched them both and I can understand his frustration that deals he wanted haven`t happened yet or have gone away completely. Only time will tell who has been issuing misleading information.
The Trust have had many arguments with the club, its owner and some of the board but I can`t recall an occasion when something they have told us has been a lie. They did tell a lie about us (promted by the owner who didn`t like us a dissenting voice) some time ago when they said we weren`t a recognised fans organisation and had to retract the claim when they were shown correspondence from both the Football Supporters Association and the Financial Conduct Authority. Went down with the owner like a bucket of cold sick.

Can`t speak for anyone else but the Trust certainly weren`t told the rebrand didn`t happen. The first the Trust heard about it was at a meeting we were called to (with other fans` reps, at which the then CEO Julian Jenkins stated that it had already happened and that Vincent Tan`s decision was not open for discussion and was irreversible. It subsequently became known that a Supporters Club Committee member had been told about it weeks earlier but had been asked to keep quiet about it.

Yes, I know who the person you're referring to that knew about it was. Very disappointing, as was the whole debacle. To be fair, I know the trust made their stance clear. I'm not a member but respect you stood up for what was right.

My initial point was and is that the club will often say one thing but do another. I mean, has debt been converted to equity yet?

I'm sure you'll agree that hopefully we'll sign a few players in the next two weeks.

I'll be interested in the trust's response if we don't.

Been very impressed with the trust at Reading in their response to their club's issues.

I am very certain that the vast majority of debt has been converted into equity, which will be shown in the May 2022 accounts when they are published next month (no i haven`t seen them in advance of that publication). Those accounts will have a note in them under "post balance sheet events" which will also show major financial events between May 2022 and the date they are signed off by the directors.

Yes I hope and believe that new signings ( probably mainly on loan) will happen this transfer window. If not then the Trust will press very hard for an explanation why not. There will also be a second opportunity to get answers from the club via the newly formed Fans Advisory Board that the Trust has been main fans group in putting in place.

I have met some of the people in the Reading Trust and they are really good people. Thankfully we haven`t had anywhere near the level of crisis their club has gone through which united their fan base.

so he wanted everything done early but people seem to be dragging there feet ? hmmm

Were we not all, including the trust, told the rebrand didn't happen and then it still did?

Fair play, Keith. That's a very fair and reasonable response.

Let's hope that we have the business we all want this month so you're not forced to ask for explanations.

Like I said I'm not a member (costs me enough travelling 80 miles for every home game!) but, as you'll be aware, supporters trusts have a big part to play - as is being proven at Reading.

I hope the FAB will also be beneficial for not just us, but the whole of UK football.

Also interested to see what happens with the independent regulator. Seemed a funny coincidence that the PL charged two clubs for FFP breaches just days before their boss, Richard Masters, was due to be questioned by MPs. Seems to me that the PL are terrified of an independent regulator.
