:bluescarf: :bluescarf: “ NIKOLAOS UPDATES CARDIFF CITY FANS “ :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

We won't be hearing from NIKOLAOS this afternoon - the Cardiff manager is unwell.

Instead, we'll have updates from coach Nikolaos Karydas.

Thursday 4th January 2024

NIKOLAOS will today discuss the FA CUP 3rd rd away Fixture away at Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday 5:30pm.

Cardiff have an allocation of 3,500 tickets and it’s pay on the day and not on Cardiff tv.

Plus latest on potential New Signings and an injury update and who will be leaving.

NIKOLAOS:

Karydas said Cardiff would field a strong team against the Owls at Hillsborough, but one player who will be absent is Dimitrios Goutas. The Greek defender revealed on social media this week that his grandmother had passed away and the club have afforded him extended leave.

"He had a problem with his grandmother, he lost her," Karydas said of Goutas. "He was in a bad mood. He got some extra days off. He will come back tomorrow but will not participate on Saturday."

Of O'Dowda, Karydas said: "Not for this Saturday. But we hope for him to be as soon as possible with us. He is an important player. We don’t want to rush him and have a second injury which will keep him out for a longer period.

"Rambo has surprised me. Each day I see him work very hard and we try to follow the same, like Callum, and not rush. We need the players to be healthy so they can give us their best when they come back.

"He is not for this Saturday. I think with Aaron it takes a longer period."

Injuries… Grant?

I can say that it is not serious, but we try to manage his load from the league games for him to be ready for the next games with us. We have some small problems and issues, but we manage it and we go to play at Sheffield with our best starting lineup.

Re: EROL BULUT:

Thu Jan 04, 2024 8:56 am

EROL BULUT:

Asked specifically about City's interest in Wales and Bournemouth striker Kieffer Moore.

he added: "You can ask for players and I have , but it's important to consider the opponent team, when they want to let him go - maybe they need also a transfer so they will wait and at the end (something might happen).”

“Its all the small details. We also have to look at more than one player. Two, three or four strikers. We have to make all the plans, we cannot focus on only one player. If it doesn't happen, you don't have a player!

"We need a few players up to six new players. A, B, C and even D options for the few positions we need. We have some players and in the coming days we are going to have a meeting about what we can do."

“We have two new players coming back from long injuries Ramsey & O’Dowda and by February they will be match fit.”

“I have also told Vincent Tan what we need and hopefully I am backed.”

Assistant Coach Niko Karydas:

Is Erol the tough guy and you’re the nice guy?

Erol is a big personality and I know him since 2005 when he was a player. To be a player at Olympiacos, playing in the Champions League, you have to be a good player and a big personality. Erol showed that. I am happy that he has kept this the last three years as a manager. He has a very good future. He wants to succeed.

Feeling among the staff in January window?

I cannot say something special. The only thing I can say is that the club is working on it. But I cannot say details.

Re: EROL BULUT:

Cardiff City will have to fight off as many as six Championship clubs if they are to secure the signing of Bournemouth and Wales striker Kieffer Moore this month.

The Bluebirds have made no secret of their desire to bring the forward back to the Welsh capital, with manager Erol Bulut keen to add both quality and goals to his attacking department before this month is over.

Cardiff tried and failed in their attempt to re-sign Moore in the summer, with the Cherries' preference to sell the player — rather than loan him out — proving prohibitive due to City's ban on paying fees for players.

Bournemouth's stance in that regard has softened and Cardiff have explored both buying and loaning options in the lead-up to the opening of the January transfer window, with Moore understood to be keen on a return to south Wales.

However, Cardiff are not alone in their admiration for the Premier League striker. The Sun report that Middlesbrough, Leeds United, Ipswich Town, Sunderland, West Brom and Birmingham City are all also showing interest.

As ever in the winter window, many clubs are desperate to add to their strike force, hoping to boost their goal tally in the back end of the campaign in order to achieve their respective targets. Cardiff have struggled, for a number of years now, to create goals from open play, with Moore proving to be equally adept at netting from set-pieces and loose play during his last stint with the club.

All players are important for us. That’s why we will put our best starting line-up. Tomorrow we will decide the best players available

Demanding…

Of course. I like the quality from the fans. Their behaviour. The players’ quality. There are no easy or difficult games. I have a philosophy that all of the games are easy or difficult depending on our performance! I feel a little bit lucky as a Greek that I work in this competition.

Do you like the Championship?

First and foremost, I enjoy working with Erol, we are together the last three years, but I know him from 2005, when I had him as a player at Olympiacos. I have to thank him because he gave me the opportunity to come to the Championship, one of the most difficult competitions in the world. I really enjoy it.

What does the FA Cup mean to you?

It’s the first time for me. I am a fan of British competitions and I speak for myself to say it’s an important competition. We will put out our best starting lineup at this moment. Each game is important, but all of the games are not of equal value. So tomorrow we will decide exactly. The players have come from a long period with games in a row, so we try to manage their tiredness.

I remember so many games, but I cannot remember a special game. All of the games I watched were very good. I liked when I watched the final.

Good news on Grant, thought it would be a long term injury but sounds like he’ll be back for Leeds at the latest.

Maybe we could also see O’Dowda back in the squad over the next couple of weeks.

Sounds like we plan to play a strong team on Saturday, we all knew Goutas was likely to miss this one.

No news on transfers but does sound like Karydas knows more about them than he’s saying.

Good update from Karydas.

Hopefully we can get the win on Saturday, whether it’s him in charge or Bulut.

Bakasetas fee and wage demands revealed

Trabzonspor want £1.3m (€1.5m) for Anastasios Bakasetas, with fellow Turkish club Besiktas readying a bid to lowball them £430,000 (€500,000).

That is according to Turkish media, who also claim that the Greece captain is hoping to secure a deal worth £1.73m (€2m) per year, which equates roughly to a £33,000-a-week contract (€38,000).
