Birmingham City has today parted company with Manager, Wayne Rooney, and First Team Coach, Carl Robinson.
Despite their best efforts, results have not met the expectations that were made clear at the outset. Therefore, the Board feels that a change in management is in the best interests of the Football Club.
The Club’s Board and management are fully aligned and will continue to drive transformation and take bold steps to rebuild Birmingham City into the organisation its fans and community deserve.
The Board would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Wayne and Carl for all of their efforts.
Chief Executive Officer, Garry Cook, commented: “We are committed to doing what is necessary to bring success to St. Andrew’s.
“Unfortunately, Wayne’s time with us did not go as planned and we have decided to move in a different direction.
“The search for a successor begins with immediate effect and we will update supporters when we have further news."
Professional Development Coach, Steve Spooner, will assume responsibility for Men’s First Team matters on an interim basis. The remaining coaching staff will be required to continue with their duties to assist Spooner.

Eustace took them to 6th in the league, then got the sack and Rooney was given the job. Rooney will never make a manager. Well done Brum management.Take a look at yourselves

Cons:
10 points from an available 45
Dropped from 5th to 20th
The fewest points won in the Championship since his appointment
Most goals conceded in that time
Pros:
One unforgettable meme
Wayne Rooney’s time at Birmingham City is over.

He had to go as Birmingham were on a continual downward slope.
In his time as Birmingham manager since early October he only guided the team to 2 victories.
One against lowly Sheffield Wednesday and the other against...um...us!

It's a tough one here, as less than 20 games is hardly giving a guy on a long contract a '
chance' to change the style and mentality of players who were inherited from a manager/coach with a different outlook...
I'm no '
fan' of Shrek but he should see himself as a little unlucky right now; and I wouldn't be too surprised if this is his last 'go' at being taken seriously as a manager/coach in the PL or EFL...

His Managerial record so far is as follows:-
Almost got Derby relegated..got Derby relegated (albeit with a point reduction …did absolutely nothing of note in the MLS and turned Brum from playoff contenders to relegation contenders
With his huge pay off from Brum he’s probably earned about £10 million for being absolutely useless

For me this was one of those appointment that makes me cringe. It was a high profile signing that matched the owners ambitions for the club. Thing is the club was not ready for such a signing. A bit like us looking at Alan Shearer all those seasons ago.
They sacked a manager that was getting them there. It failed and besides upsetting their own fans the rest of the football community is now laughing at them. I just have no time for such owners like these.

Birmingham city now looking to re-instate John Eustace as their manager...
Apparently, he is still on the pay roll and talks are taking place...
I think I'd be asking for 'backing' in the January window...!
